I installed two 10" subs in the trunk and I need to stop the trunk from vibrating is there a much cheaper way then using dyno-mat?

I had a buddy that stuffed his trunk lid with rags -- that was cheap. and it stopped the rattles.

There is also stuff you can get at a roofing supply place, get a roll of the stuff and it is dynamatt, without the name and comes in rolls about 12 inches wide, something like 20 bucks a roll and its 20 feet long. ive used it for work before the reduce vibrations in panels on porchlifts

According to Sound Deadener Showdown ... the higher quality product is Second Skin Damplifier which is better and less expensive than Dynamat Xtreme ...

and the best value is RAAMat BXT which is almost as inexpensive as eDead, but a lot better quality.

He also has a problem with the eDead people as he believes they overstate the density of their products.

Just be aware that this stuff is asphalt based (smells, won't stick too well to metal especially when hot) and probably won't conform to the FMVV-302 specs for automotive fire ratings ... otherwise it's probably a pretty good low-cost alternative.

My friends sprayed foam insolation in side the trunk lid and seemed to stop it completly. So I tried it aswell it worked, aswell as put on a dynomat licence plate. But now I have stopped the rattling from the trunk and just can't stop it from rattling the top of the trunk by the rear window.

There are many threads on this on FF. I can't remember the guys name but I think he has used some sort of sound deadening on every part of his car.

BTW, this thread is slowly coming back from the dead eh......

Search Bluefront over on Focus Fanatics. That is the guy who has added acoustic material to just about every piece of his car. I read somewhere that it is now quieter than a Rolls inside.

Some people like Hushmat, and it's apparently cheaper than Dynamat as well...
