head unit - Jmountney1 - 05-09-2011 my head unit has went to s**t it, plays cd half the time and no radio. id buy a used stock head unit if anyone’s got one. as long as i can use my wheel controls and can keep the factory sub. i have the 6 disk audiophile unit but i don’t care what i get as the car is for sale. my second option is to buy a aftermarket unit and a mounting kit. what’s a good one to get. i wont be upgrading speakers, sub or anything ever (cars for sale) i want something that looks stock ish nuttn to tuner or flashy any body have any good suggestions for a head unit? thanks all RE: head unit - Focus man. Focus. - 05-09-2011 I don't believe there is a wiring kit out there that would allow you to plug and play with the factory sub. You are going to have to do some wiring my friend or sell it as is. RE: head unit - audionut405 - 05-09-2011 ^ yes there is and still allow you to use your steering column controls, but that will get pricey. If you were keeping the car I would highly recommend Pioneer head units, but for your scenario I would just look for a used factory unit. RE: head unit - hardk0re - 05-09-2011 My alpine is connected to my sub, just connected the remote wire and the sub wires. Works great. The only thing is I do not belive the factory amp has a built in crossover so if you have a deck with an active crossover built in for SUBW out this would be good addition. It wasn't hard to wire up, I needed a female RCA end and soldered it in to the right wires and its plug and play after that with the standard radio wirring harness. RE: head unit - Jmountney1 - 05-10-2011 ok i will do some wiring. i was just getting at i don't want to re wire the hole harness. id like as much plug and play as possible. how do i know if a head unit will work with my wheel controls and if any ones got a oem head unit ill consider it.
