How do YOU tighten the rear hub nuts? - duckcanuck - 08-31-2011 My torque wrench only goes to 150 ft-lbs, and the rear hub nuts require 173 ft-lbs. So, I'm wondering what folks on this forum do when they have to do this job. Any tips welcome. Bob RE: How do YOU tighten the rear hub nuts? - Oscar The Grouch - 08-31-2011 I'd say go for 150ftlb and an extra 1/8th of a turn. RE: How do YOU tighten the rear hub nuts? - GFXjamie - 08-31-2011 get a 250 ft-lb tq wrench or borrow one from a friend. OR do as oscar stated and over tq it past, wont take much at all RE: How do YOU tighten the rear hub nuts? - MuskokaZX3 - 08-31-2011 I picked up a 1/2" torque and a 3/4" torque from crappy for 100 bucks each... Well worth it! But just over torque it with your 150 ft-lb RE: How do YOU tighten the rear hub nuts? - duckcanuck - 08-31-2011 OK, so it sounds like the spec is not super critical. That "150 ft-lbs plus 1/8 turn" sounds reproducible. Thanks folks. Bob RE: How do YOU tighten the rear hub nuts? - ZTWsquared - 08-31-2011 I don't remember your location, but if you come out to a Monday meet I can have my big-ass 350 ft/lb torque wrench there and we can tighten it to spec. Come to think of it I'm bringing it out next time and we can check everyone's lug nuts. (08-31-2011, 08:15 AM)duckcanuck Wrote: OK, so it sounds like the spec is not super critical.
