wetness by feet - Mystake - 10-21-2011

not the passenger side...

the driver's side!

it seems like my floor mat gets more and more wet over time. I could go in my car now and it'd be wet. And it's right under/behind the pedals too.

No clue what's causing it... any one?

RE: wetness by feet - _JET_ - 10-21-2011

maybe the boot around your pedals is leaking water through it. If you are in southern Ontario it has been raining a lot lately so maybe you need to replace or fix them.

RE: wetness by feet - Flofocus - 10-21-2011

Did you check the obvious? I would start with poking the floor from underneath with a screwdriver and see how solid it is.

Rotten floor,
could be the slave cylinder too.

RE: wetness by feet - sonic_mikey - 10-22-2011

check the slave, same thing happened in my svt last winter

RE: wetness by feet - ZTWsquared - 10-22-2011

Yeah ... so best find out if it's water or some other fluid first.

the wetness is coming from up above/behind the clutch pedal and it's made my floormat slippery.

what kind of fluid is it leaking and where can I top it off...

RE: wetness by feet - 02ztsian - 10-30-2011

It's the clutch master cylinder leaking. Common problem with manual trans.
Only fix is to replace.

RE: wetness by feet - Mystake - 10-31-2011

i looked it up on the internet, it's just brake fluid right?

so if I check my brake fluid under the hood, as long as it's topped up I can drive, temporarily? Now's a bad time for me to get it fixed

RE: wetness by feet - ANTHONYD - 11-01-2011

get it fixed.
I had my feet slip off my pedals in the middle of an intersection when mine was leaking.

for sure, and if it is leaking, its just a matter of time before you're left stranded.

RE: wetness by feet - Mystake - 11-02-2011

I'm going to have it fixed but until parts come in/time allows I still need to be able to cruise around, especially because I may have a job starting soon that requires me to have a car (*cross fingers*). What can I do to not get stranded, top up fluid levels?

nothing, the plunger is separating from the rubber that allows it to seal. Eventually your going to have no clutch actuation and maybe even excessive amounts of brake fluid coming into the cabin (which is dangerous seeing as the clutch res and brake master res are the same thing)

crap. well the focus is parked for now then.
