Amazing career and amazing influence on the North American auto scene - there are very, very few like him and he will be missed. I wonder if we will see a Mustang Shelby memorial edition - might be fitting I think. RIP Mr. Shelby.

could you imagine a shelby focus.

A great man, who loved to go fast, and win races. All of us "gearheads" have been touched in one way or another by him. The man is gone, the legend will live forever. ( He's probably up there working with a few of the "old boys" on how to make whatever they are driving up there go faster and turn the corners better)

A truly fucking sad day. I was shocked to hear that he had passed, as he had just attended the most recent unveiling of the new, 600HP+ Cobra I believe.

If not for guys like Shelby, I have a feeling the race and tuning scene in North America would be a LOT different than it is today - and not in a good way, either.

Yup - and not just the racing. He was born with a heart valve problem and he was one of the first heart transplant patients almost 30 years ago IIRC.
