Injector Size Question - 2000zx3sct - 09-25-2012 Anyone know what size the stock injectors are in my focus? also what size are the stock svt's ? RE: Injector Size Question - hardk0re - 09-25-2012 I think stock svt is 30lb and stock focus is 19lb RE: Injector Size Question - 2000zx3sct - 09-25-2012 thanks , i have a set of svt injectors and im looking at swapping my stock ones out .... seeing as there almost 13 years old haha. RE: Injector Size Question - GFXjamie - 09-25-2012 you will need a custom tune in order to use those injectors. IMO not worthwhile at all considering they wont bump up your power levels RE: Injector Size Question - 2000zx3sct - 09-25-2012 I'll take that into account , much appreciated RE: Injector Size Question - hardk0re - 09-25-2012 30LB injectors are the right size for a T25 or T28 turbo, small/cheap turbo RE: Injector Size Question - ZTWsquared - 09-25-2012 (09-25-2012, 11:19 AM)hardk0re Wrote: 30LB injectors are the right size for a T25 or T28 turbo, small/cheap turbo Just as a means to comparison, my JRSC BBK was spec'd for 42lb injectors which is one of the reasons the ECU had to be re-programmed as part of the upgrade. RE: Injector Size Question - 2000zx3sct - 09-25-2012 i see , i would like to replace them sooner or later ... i think there due for a replacing . I think im understanding now , the svt comes factory tuned for the 30lb injectors ..correct...? what would be the worst case scenario be if i were to put 30lbs in there? Im assuming they would still work ? but they wouldnt be as effiecient for the tune im running? and wouldnt be worth it as jamie said becuase there isnt enough power being put out for them to take full effect? lol i think im finally understanding. correct me if im wrong RE: Injector Size Question - adamzx5 - 09-25-2012 I dont think the fuel pump could keep up. The real key to making more power is to flow more air - both in and out - the ideal fuel to air ratio never changes and so dumping more fuel into the cylinders simply doesn't work without adding the appropriate increase in air. Even with a supercharger at 8 psi and 42 lb injectors my stock Zetec fuel pump has no problem delivering enough fuel and I've heard of turbo Zetecs making much more power being fueled by the stock pump. The point though, is that installing larger capacity injectors without also flowing considerably more air, is basically an exercise in futility; not only will you not make more power you will probably create some driveability problems as the computer tries to maintain the proper fuel/air ratio. RE: Injector Size Question - 2000zx3sct - 09-26-2012 I see what you mean , thanks everyone for all the input .. That's what I like most about this website. tons of knowledge ! . Ken let me know when you are avail so I can get that plasti dip off ya. RE: Injector Size Question - hardk0re - 09-27-2012 My old ZX3 put down 201whp with 30# injectors and Vortech Blower but they were at their limits. Both injectors and Blower RE: Injector Size Question - 2000zx3sct - 09-27-2012 id like to throw a little blower on once i get some cash flow maybe ill save the injectors for then .... thats a good excuse to get one haha, curious to see if anyone has ever thrown one on an automatic before? dont think ive ever heard of a vortech before. By all accounts the PowerWorks sc was available with a special tune for automatics that reduced the stress on the soft parts - but they're out of business now so you'll have to find a used one somewhere; and then of course the tuning might be an issue unless Randy or someone can support it. |
