Cracked Wheel And Now... - konafocuswrc - 06-12-2008

i had 1 cracked wheel about an year ago..and fixed by professional..
and yesterday, i felt something wrong with my car..
flat tires..
and blah blah blah..fit in factory steel 14" wheel..it looks funny with 3 18" and 1 14"..

was searching ebay and they have adr wheels+tires package for $500 and shipping is $300..
but the thing is tire size is 225 40 18..
if i want to go with 215 35 18, then i have to pay $100 more..

anyway, my car is raised higher and looks like 225 40 18 will fit no problem..
and also it will protect wheels more..
i know it will mess up speed and km..but i heard it can be fixed by tuning ecu or something..

so...
how much is roughy brokerage fee and duty when i get $500 worth wheels+tires package from the states??
would it be something $150 range??

Cracked Wheel And Now... - NikiterZTS - 06-12-2008

my heart is telling me it would be more

Cracked Wheel And Now... - naz - 06-12-2008

buy it local or at least drive over and get it installed. its going to be expensive to ship and pay duty on top of that

by the way, are you sure that size will fit? i'd proceed with caution unless you know FOR SURE that offset and tire fits on a focus with similar drop as yours. i think you are pushing the boundaries of what will fit, and if you are wrong it will be a very expensive mistake because you won't be able to resell these for a good price

Have your supplier quote the shipping costs to Zip Code 14305 - ship them to my office in Niagara Falls and I'll bring them across the border for you.

You'll save on shipping, you'll save on border fees and there will be no duty ... just the GST and PST you would have to pay anyway.

PM me if you're interested and I'll let you know exactly how much you will save.

225 40 18 fits no problem..
it is little bit larger like .5 inch..

Cracked Wheel And Now... - konafocuswrc - 06-12-2008

oh and this is the wheel i m getting..

i like oz style but they are expensive..and team dynamics monza r will be pain to wait for couple months..enkei gf1 is okay but from canadian site, way over priced..

this one is flat looking spokes..not like oz or td..but this fits my budget..
and painting this to black again..

even with very hard driving when the suspension is fully compressed? is this the size you run right now? you must have almost no suspension travel because it looks like the edge of the tire is right on the edge of the fender

currently with 215 35 18..

looks like you missed all my posts..
http://www.focuscanada.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=23856

i had coilover and that is what you see in the sig..

and i switched to saleen package..because 1 of them snapped..

Cracked Wheel And Now... - konafocuswrc - 06-13-2008

this is how mine looks like with saleen package..with 215 35 18..

and 225 40 18 is 1/2 inch larger than svt which is 215 45 17..
so i don't think this will have problem with rubbing..
if i can get hands on 215 40 18, then there will be only .2 inch difference..

will see..

Cracked Wheel And Now... - naz - 06-13-2008

oooor wait a minute.. this seems like a show points tuner purchase... nevermind!!

in case you are interested in my opinion

you sure about your calculations dude? 225/40/18 is 1.2" larger in diameter than 215/35/18.. plus depending on the different tire you are using a 225 tire can run a LOT wider than a 215 tire. (there are some 235 width tires out there that were same width as my 225 width azenis RT615)

so you are putting on a larger diameter tire, that is wider, with a potentially different offset wheel

you are the tuner not me.. i'm just saying i'd be really careful before buying if i was you

also the static ride height doesn't mean anything. so what if it doesn't rub when you are in the parking lot. what matters if whether it will rub when the suspension is fully loaded, such as a fast sweeper with an uphill corner entrance. you don't want to have to slow up because you are afraid of rub. that defeats the point of having the wider tires

Cracked Wheel And Now... - konafocuswrc - 06-13-2008

i was comparing size of svt stock wheel to 225 40 18..

i don;t know if i trust TIRERACK but TIRERACK says 225 40 18 for svt..
i thought svt and zx3 are same bodyshell..no??

Cracked Wheel And Now... - konafocuswrc - 06-13-2008

nevermind..
since all 3 wheels and tires are in good condition..
i will have to get 4 wheels but only 2 tires..same size..215 35 18..
only thing i will have to do is check tire pressure every week..

enjoy~

Cracked Wheel And Now... - naz - 06-13-2008

yea.. i think its a good play for you to retain that size. i think 225/40/18 would be pushing it for sure

Cracked Wheel And Now... - konafocuswrc - 06-15-2008

yea true..
and i will have to paint it as i did before..

powdercoater wants $3000 for the job..sandblast+powdercoat..
and some wants $500 per wheel..

now i need to look for the place carry VHT wheel paint..

Cracked Wheel And Now... - naz - 06-15-2008

geez. cosmetic stuff is so $$$
