New And "improved" Ford Dot Ca - ZTWsquared - 05-13-2008

I've waited for a while to post this thinking the new site might grow on me ... it hasn't.

While the old ford.ca wasn't the best of web 2.0, I found it relatively easy to get around and it worked pretty good.

What does everyone think?

It's great when the Build feature wants to respond!

Otherwise, it's not bad!

I can't even get it to load with ie anymore (error page exception) - only works now with Firefox

I went on it the other day, I think its junk! It was to slow and there were to many third party designer logos.

Well, just tried the new ford.ca website myself here at work and the damn thing triggered off a firewall violation <_<

Wonder what it'll do to me at home... probably make my PC spontainously reboot or something  )

Web 2.0 is such an overused statement... I'm actually surprised by the inclusion of a mashup-ish and social interactivity tool.... which aren't entirely either...

Using AJAX for the sake of AJAX isn't the way I'd do it... tho a lot of the problems could be resolved if their servers responded a little quicker.. and there seems to be at least one memory leak (tell ford i can troubleshoot it for them, but because it's likely in the AJAX implementation, I'll have to charge extra).

And then you get to the site design... which appears to be slightly overdesigned... and I don't know if it still holds true, but come site design and usability, less is more... simple colours to guide the eye and an uncluttered layout...

I guess I could go on and on, but the other side of the internet needs me...

yeah I've used the site a few times, and IF it loads up what I click it's very slow to load, and thats not mentioning the crashes in between a click here or there.. and the build and price was better before, now if I can get it to load without crashing that is..
