Who's Planning On Picking Up Gran Tourismo 5? - darkpuppet - 04-03-2008

So, as a lot of folks know, GT5: Prologue is coming out in a couple of weeks.

Anyone planning on picking it up? I may have to, just because I love driving games :P

Also, PS3 owners -- dual shock 3 controllers hit shelves next week! woot!

Cool! I'd love to try GT5 out!

And as for the dual shock controllers... they finally got past the barrier?! lol I thought the force feedback was interfering with the accelerometers in the controllers? It's about time Sony found a way around that...

EDIT: And the game is only $40! Who has a PS3?! I'm coming over... lol. I'm still anticipating GRID.

Dualshock 3 was held back by the lawsuit with emersion... once Sony settled that, it was back on the board. Every other excuse was just PR, weither it was "it interferes" or "rumble is soooo last gen!"... it was just an excuse to deflect from the real reason.

The dualshock 3's have been available in Japan for some time now, and I've been tempted on several occasions to import one from playasia.com, but I'll save $10 by buying locally (even if you can't get it in white here)

Hopefully the release of the Dualshock3 will drive down the price on the original Sixaxis controllers!! cuz i've busted the 2 i have playing COD4.... damn L3 buttons don't hold up! i've been trying so score a White Dualshock3 off ebay, but they keep going over what i'm looking to pay with shipping :( And GT5 for $40?! how can you go wrong at that price? i've always been more into the Burnout series, but the last one... well i tried the demo and wasn't impressed!

some good news from ps3.ign.com!

Quote:Gran Turismo 5 Prologue gets Smashed
Vehicle deformation could arrive as soon as Autumn says Yamauchi.
by Martin Robinson, IGN UK
UK, April 3, 2008 - It may have taken more than a little time for Polyphony to warm to the idea, but Gran Turismo head Kazunori Yamauchi has confirmed that the series is finally going to be implementing damage, saying it could be included as a downloadable feature for Gran Turismo 5 Prologue as early as this Autumn.

In an interview with IGN earlier today, Yamauchi said that, "maybe by Fall we'll be able to implement it," before confirming that it would feature as a download for Prologue, which launched in the UK and across Europe last week. Gran Turismo has long been famed for its refusal to include any vehicle deformation, despite heightening demands from its fan-base, and any inclusion of the feature would be a massive boon for the series.

We'll have the full interview tomorrow, including Yamauchi's verdict on working on a Formula 1 title in the future, so check back for further details.

Well in the winter i'm all about my games... and being laid off for almost 2 months so far this year it's my way of not racking up my credit cards on car parts

And my buddies at work and i trade off games like crazy, unless there's a game like COD4 that we all will play.

And alot of the time we wait for games to go on sale $19.99 specials and then take them back at another store and trade for a new release game, or trade ins at Blockbuster are good $$$ too! sometimes i can trade 2 used and get 1 new at Blockbuster

i used to use gamefly.com for games... i'm not a big game collector, so the play it and return it model works best for me. i also used to purchase a game and resell it to cut losses, or buy used and resell for the same price

CC for car parts.. shudder

I think this one and Warhawk are my next purchases (Only way I'd be able to drive a Focus ST :P) Adding the damage model later as an add on? Better not be extra cost, that's all I'll say... <_<

As to the Dual Shock capable controller, dunno, it'd be nice to have rumble back but not sure I'd play enough rumble compatable games to make it worthwhile  (Though there is Katamari Damacy and without rumble it is a bit tricky...)

So you don't have a PS3?
If I remeber right, there will be a PS3/GT5:Prologue bundle.
I'm still not sure if I'm gonna buy it.
My oldest son saw me looking at a playseat/G25 wheel and said "When are we getting it???" LoL.
Too bad we have to give money back to the gvmt since they did not keep enough (damn taxes).

Pretty sure something like $700.

I think I'll be trying to use my G25 on a coffee table instead. Or some wood.

Who's Planning On Picking Up Gran Tourismo 5? - Gravter - 04-04-2008

You can get the seat for about $300 and the wheel sells for about $250 on eBay.
So, anywhere from $550 to $650.
