Transport Canada Issues Latest Recalls - Frost__2001 - 01-11-2008 Transport Canada issues latest recalls January 11, 2008 Ottawa, Ontario - Transport Canada has released its latest recalls, which may affect some Ford, General Motors, Toyota, Porsche, Volvo, and Mercedes-Benz vehicles, and Britax infant seats. 2000-2003 Ford E250/E350/E450/E550 2000-2003 Ford Excursion 1999-2003 Ford F-250/F350/F450 Super Duty 2000-2003 Ford F650/F750 Vehicles affected: 116,711 On certain vehicles equipped with a 7.3-litre diesel engine, the camshaft position sensor may fail, causing the engine to stall. Dealers will inspect and, if required, replace the camshaft position sensor. 2007 Toyota Tundra Vehicles affected: 2,464 On certain four-wheel drive vehicles, the rear driveshaft slip yoke may have received improper heat treatment during the manufacturing process. Insufficient hardness may allow the slip yoke to break, causing the propeller shaft to separate at the joint and come in contact with the road surface or the fuel tank. Dealers will inspect and, if required, replace the propeller shaft. *this is the 8th recall on the Tundra in less then 6 months**** 2005-2007 Cadillac CTS 2005-2007 Cadillac SRX 2005-2007 Cadillac STS 2006-2007 Pontiac Solstice 2007 Saturn Sky Vehicles affected: 20,153 On certain vehicles, the drive axle differential seal may leak (all-wheel drive vehicles have two seals). Reduced lubrication may cause the differential to become noisier. Continued use may cause damage to bearings and other differential components, and may result in the differential jamming and preventing vehicle movement when the vehicle is stopped and shifted to Reverse; may cause drag that will feel like the parking brake is applied; or may result in the differential jamming and locking the drive wheels while the vehicle is moving. Dealers will replace the drive axle differential seal(s). 2007 Mercedes-Benz E320 CDI 2007 Mercedes-Benz GL320 CDI 2007 Mercedes-Benz ML320 CDI 2007 Mercedes-Benz R320 CDI Vehicles affected: 4,756 On certain diesel-powered vehicles, the crankshaft sensor may fail, causing the engine to stall. Dealers will replace the crankshaft sensor. 2008 Volvo XC70 Vehicles affected: 1,695 Certain vehicles fail to conform to the requirements of CMVSS 120; the wheel information label, located on the rear driver's side door pillar, does not contain the wheel size (rim) information. Owners will be provided with labels and installation instructions. 2007 Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Vehicles affected: 4 On certain vehicles, the windshield may not be properly bonded to the vehicle body, due to the omission of either primer or activator during the windshield installation process. Dealers will reinstall the windshield. 2008 Porsche 911 GT3 Vehicles affected: 2 Certain vehicles may contain a defective switch console for the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) and Traction Control switches. The LEDs in the switches can signal a function change in the PASM mode or the deactivation of traction control, even though the switches were not actuated. Dealers will replace the switch console. Child Seat Recall 1999-2007 Britax E9L16 Roundabout 1999-2007 Britax E9016 Roundabout Units affected: 10,700 Certain restraint systems do not comply with the fit requirements of CMVSS 213.1; the labels affixed to the restraint systems indicate that the units are recommended for rear-facing use for infants whose weight is between birth and 13.6 kg, and whose height is between birth and 76 cm. It may be impossible to follow the manufacturer's instructions and adjust the shoulder harness straps at or below the shoulders of certain low-birth-weight newborn infants for a snug fit. Britax will supply owners with revised labels and instruction manual inserts that reflect a new minimum weight use limit of 2.3 kg and new fit recommendations. Transport Canada Issues Latest Recalls - mo_focus - 01-11-2008 i think this is why Ford is always on TV and News. When they get a recall its not for 10-20 cars, its for over 100000 cars. They have to improve on that for sure. As for the M-B and Porsche, damm i would be pissed if i pay over 150K for a car and find out its got defective parts :) Transport Canada Issues Latest Recalls - oldeguy - 01-11-2008 Maybe Ford and Mercedes used the same supplier for their sensors. The quality of German cars is beginning to decline, 6 vehicles, for shame  Transport Canada Issues Latest Recalls - naz - 01-16-2008 some of the recalls are serious (crank sensor for ford and MB) some are not...
