Help A Vw Driver Out! - sonic_mikey - 01-06-2010

My buddy is in the middle of a headgasket change/cleaning up parts in the engine bay on his 16v, and hes finding it hard to decide what he wants his intake manifold to look like. He was going to polish the intake, but started getting second thoughts (and polishing is a mofo). So here are the choices:

He'll also be painting the VW symbol black and the DOHC 16V lettering red.

Here's the engine before:

Here's the painted valve cover:

And here are the options!

Option 1 Matte Black:

Option 2 Chrome Paint (not chrome dipping, but spray bomb):

Option 3 OEM Silver w/clear coat:

Option 4 Polished:

Your opinion is much appreciated!

I'm thinking the matte black looks damn good. Especially on a black car.

Definitly the matte black. That looks sharp. If you took the manifold and painted it matte black and then stensiled in the VW symbol in red that would look whicked.

ditto option 1

I like the chrome/ polished look but you'll never get it to a perfect polishing state.

do the matte black for sure coming from another vw driver.

But instead of doing the dohc 16 V in red do this.
