I'd bet that Focus with side air bags wouldn't have made that list. The last 5 of my 7 Focus have all been ordered with side air bags. Top 20 Most Dangerous Cars - OAC_Sparky - 07-28-2007 Quote:This illustrates a key point: Simply looking at the historical death rates for one particular model might not give much insight into the relative danger, or safety, of driving that vehicle. Furthermore, the most recent available federal data, interpreted by make and model by the IIHS, covers 2001 to 2004 model years in calendar years 2002 to 2005. Many models have had significant changes in safety equipment or complete redesigns since then. Also noted in the article, it doesn't account for age group. ie the Focus would on average be driven by younger, less experienced drivers. Based on some of the accidents I read here, that would be true. I noticed that right away, almost all are compact entry level vehicles. I guess young or fuel concious people don't derserve air bags. :( Top 20 Most Dangerous Cars - NOS2Go4Me - 07-28-2007 I stupidly realized they weren't in the new car after we bought it. From the hits I've seen 1st gens take on here... I have to say I'm honestly not that worried. I've been in a"whoa, you walked away from that without a scratch?!?!?" accident before where the car was a write-off and I was more pissed than anything. It all comes down to design and a healthy dose of LUCK. Remember that second part. ;) Top 20 Most Dangerous Cars - meford4u - 07-28-2007 NikiterZTS,Jul 27 2007, 12:48 PM Wrote:i'd still buy S2000 without thinking twiceI have a friend with one for sale right now. Top 20 Most Dangerous Cars - NikiterZTS - 07-28-2007 lol....faaaawk that i think im gonna stick with the Focus for another 2 years Top 20 Most Dangerous Cars - zx5power - 07-28-2007 thats fawked how the escape made that list like last year a local went head on with a tractor trailer and walked away without a scratch he thanked the escape and now thats all he will drive or buy. Top 20 Most Dangerous Cars - oldeguy - 07-28-2007 These statistics are probably taken on vehicles that are bone stock, with no options. What's scary to me is the "best car" company has one of it's NEWER vehicles on it. The Yaris. The new Focus is supposed to have air bags all around, I think, even though it looks like .... it still is an improvement in some ways over the present Focus, in my humble opinion. The Escape and the Ranger are old platforms also. Top 20 Most Dangerous Cars - Drivesthebeast - 07-29-2007 No S197 Mustangs on that list woot woot! Top 20 Most Dangerous Cars - PARKINGLOT - 08-02-2007 what a load of crap. I've owned 3 rangers and 2 Bronco II's, they are plenty safe.... |
