Windsheild Washer Not Working - ANTHONYD - 03-17-2007 I'm stuck here in a meeting and I'm bored so I'm going to ask now. My windsheild washer nozzles do not activate when I push the button. I can't hear any noise (from the pump) Any ideas what this might be and has anyone else had this problem before??? I'm going to check the hoses etc...this weekend. Windsheild Washer Not Working - oldeguy - 03-17-2007 Pump screwed? Fuses shot? Windsheild Washer Not Working - 2001 ZTS - 03-17-2007 fuse/relay? Windsheild Washer Not Working - NefCanuck - 03-17-2007 I'd tend to agree that a fuse is the likely culprit, since you say you aren't hearing the pump activate, but to be sure have an assistant stand as close to where the pump is located on the Focus when you try to use it. Is the fuse for the pump seperate from anything else on the Focus? (I'm at my desk so I can't check the owners manual) NefCanuck Windsheild Washer Not Working - focusracer - 03-17-2007 What's the temperature? When we had our cold snap/ blizzard out here mine froze up, with winter fluid in it, and the pump wouldn't work or anything. Could just be that. We use crappy washer fluid in our 13yr old Escort and have never had a freeze up, and in the Focus I use decent RainX stuff and same thing, they never freeze up. And unless your using Water in the tank all winter then Cheap or not, the washer fluid shouldnt freeze. Odds are its the fuse or your washer pump is cooked. Both easy to fix. Windsheild Washer Not Working - ANTHONYD - 03-18-2007 How does one replace the pump or fuse???? Does anyone know what fuse it is that controlles it? And what does a shot fuse look like? Windsheild Washer Not Working - BCV6SVT - 03-18-2007 As for the fuse. Check your fuse panel in the drivers side foot well. There is a diagram that will show you what all the fuses do. It will most likely be a 15 or 20 amp fuse but im not sure..... The fuse is definately not in the fuse box in the engine bay..... To replace the washer motor you need to jack up the front left of the car and remove the front left tire. Then you need to remove the fenderwell cover to gain acces to the resivoir. Unscrew the mounting bolts (3 i think) and slide the the reservoir forward to release it from the inner fender panel. The motor is on the back side of the reservoir. You need to unplug the power plug and an inlet and outlet hose. Then you can replace it and reinstall. Definatley check the fuses first. Replacing the motor takes a bit of time. Also if you change the motor make sure the check the filter screen is not blocked as well........ Hope this helps.... Windsheild Washer Not Working - NefCanuck - 03-18-2007 It just struck me that there could also be crap in the line leading to washer nozzles. Seems most manufacturers don't see fit to put any type of screening in the opening to the washer fluid tank (Though my Olds had screening right at the opening oddly enough) NefCanuck Windsheild Washer Not Working - ANTHONYD - 03-19-2007 Thanks for the replies. I'm going to see if I can get out today to check this fuse we speak of. If It's not the fuse...I'm not sure whet I'm going to do. I would imagine having this replaced / fixed would be quite costly no? |
