Air Filter - X TUH BOARD - 04-16-2010

when should i replace my air filter and if i go with K&N would i get better miliage?
i have a 07 sedan auto

Air Filter - Canadian ST - 04-16-2010

The 07 has the huge charcoil air filter that is does not need to be replaced for 100'000km, there is a filter check system on it, it will tell you when it needs replacing.

If you do need to replace it I would by an aftermarket air intake system, more hp and cheaper then buying the assembly from Ford, I think it costs $400.

If you go with a K&N (or any oiled filter) be prepared to clean your MAF on a regular basis.

Theoretically you can achieve higher MPG with a K&N - but usually it's the opposite because of the way you'll end up driving. At least that was my experience LOL.

What do you recommend to clean the maf with? I've read of different electrical sprays but wanna make sure to get the right one.

There's a couple of mfg that actually make an aerosol spray MAF cleaner - CRC is one I think. It's similar to a carb cleaner but minus some chemicals that might otherwise damage the MAF.

Best, simplest and cheapest:

Rubbing alcohol.

I would have to agree with the more gas wasting and epic sound lol......BTW if you get a bigger TB, the sound is 10x more epic

You're probably ignoring the upshift light like 99% of us do. ... seriously, unless you've got fresh plugs, a new air filter, fresh oil and filter, a new PCV valve and a fresh O2 sensor etc etc ... 10 litres / 100 km isn't bad.

I have an '05 filter assembly that had only 32,000km on it when I yanked it out of the Focus at the time for SRI, assuming it fits the '07 PM me and we can work something out far cheaper than the $400 kick to the teeth if you want to stay stock.

especially if its a lot of city driving. 400kms a tank is roughly what i get, and i get on it quite often lol.

Air Filter - GFXjamie - 04-18-2010

being boosted, i have already done 340 kms on 3/4 of a tank hitting boost every chance i get.

b4 boost i would average 450-500 and that was a little highway/steady speed and a lot of city running. As for highway, 600km to a tank. I had intake, header, tb, exhaust and a tune b4 boost. mind you the mods helped my MPG on highway runs but not in city as i have a heavy foot for 1st-3rd LOL

i also have an 07 to and 90,000 km almost on it. Replace your plugs if you havent already, do synthetic oil changes, your going to need a new o2 sensor likely in the next 20,000 km as they are only meant to live to about 100,000k. get ready for some maintenance to keep your gas from running dry
