Couple Exhaust Questions - SliverSteeda - 12-05-2006

Ok here we go....

Rmember new to the focus and my chilton isn't here yet (had to order one online from chapters)

1. There are 2 mufflers and a cat on the stock focus... i can see both mufflers but can't seem to see the cat... wasn't trying real hard the car was still on the ground and i just took a peek. is the cat before or after the flex pipe.

2. I plan on making my own Cat back system. plan on going to a 2.25 pipe... whats the common way to expand from the 1.75 to the 2 1/4... do most use a 1.7 to 2 1/4 adapter after the cat?

Next spring i plan on putting in a header... but intend on keeping the exhaust. Still haven't decided on what muffler i'm gonna use or where i'm going to put it in the system in the middle or the rear, probably in the middle.

I just wanted a little info on a couple thing before i start to bend And weld.

thanks guys...

Most exhaust flanges have enuff room to mate a 1/78 whatever to 2.25....

Are you sure you have 2 mufflers? ;)

no... thats why i'm asking.... theres the lunch box after the wheels and the other one, which seemed to be awfully big for a cat in front of the wheels....

the cat is right off of the exhaust manifold. it is right below the heat shield.

It probably goes...

Exhauts manifold > Catalyc Converter > Resonator > Muffler

Unless you have something other than stock....
