Transport Canada Issues Latest Recalls - Frost__2001 - 10-23-2009 Transport Canada issues latest recalls Oct. 23, 2009 Ottawa, Ontario ââ¬â Transport Canada has issued its latest recalls, which may affect some Nissan, Infiniti, Lexus, Toyota, Chevrolet, GMC, Ford and Ferrari vehicles. 2008-2010 Infiniti M35 2008-2010 Infiniti M45 2009 Nissan Cube 2009 Nissan Murano 2008-2009 Nissan Rogue Vehicles affected: 18,362 On certain vehicles, material in the nut used to secure the sensor-transmitter of the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) may corrode and crack in areas with heavy concentrations of road salt. If this occurs, the nut may come out of the sensor, causing a rapid loss of air pressure. Dealers will replace the nut with a revised version. 2007-2010 Lexus ES 350 2006-2010 Lexus IS 250 2006-2010 Lexus IS 350 2010 Lexus IS C 2009-2010 Lexus IS F 2005-2010 Toyota Avalon Vehicles affected: 200,000 On certain vehicles, the accelerator pedal may become stuck in the wide-open position due to an unsecured or incompatible driverââ¬â¢s floor mat. Toyota will notify owners of affected vehicles to remove any driverââ¬â¢s floor mat and not replace it with any other floor mat, pending the development of model-specific remedies. 2007-2009 Chevrolet Silverado 2007-2009 GMC Sierra Vehicles affected: 93,931 On certain vehicles located in Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador, the sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) may corrode due to a significant quantity of snow and/or water containing road salt or other contaminants entering the vehicle and saturating the acoustical padding beneath the floor carpet. If sufficient moisture collects and is retained in the padding, it may cause excessive corrosion under the module, compromising its seal and allow water intrusion and system malfunction. This may result in illumination of the airbag readiness light, along with a ââ¬ÅService Airbagââ¬Â message on the driver information centre and, in certain instances, may cause inadvertent deployment of the seatbelt pretensioner and/or airbag. Dealers will remove the acoustical pad above the SDM. 1992-2003 Ford E150 1992-2003 Ford E250 1992-2003 Ford E350 Vehicles affected: 522,873 On certain vehicles, the speed control deactivation switch may overheat, smoke or burn, potentially resulting in an underhood fire. The condition may occur either when the vehicle is in operation or when it is parked. Dealers will install a new switch or fused wiring harness. This is an expansion of recall 2005028 for vehicles not previously included in the campaign. 2008-2009 Ferrari F430 Scuderia 2008-2009 Ferrari 430 Scuderia Spider Vehicles affected: 55 On certain vehicles, the tires may experience partial tread separation and/or belt edge separation. Dealers will replace the affected tires. Is it weird, that's what drove Ford into the same non sense with the 'Explorer recall' when the tires were exploding. BS, I agree. IMO the best thing a manufacturer can do is "get in front of it" as we say in the business; ie: accept responsibility and make all the right "apologies" and put replacement plans in place before the public begins demanding it. BTW - I was on the Ford of Canada communications team that was responsible for the company's response to the Firestone tire recall. |
