The OBX header isn't really that bad at all. I was actually going to buy one but I got a Focus Central one for cheaper. If I were you and looking for a header with that design I say go for it.

^^^ i'll be buyin a focus central flex with a welded hiflow flex in it...so i guess shouldn't be that bad

are power gains any good?

Obx 4-2-1 Header - Burnin21 - 10-07-2006

I noticed a really big difference when I put on the exhaust header. The throttle response is great and the car I felt had alot more on the top end (I think). As for a good price anywhere from $100-160 should be alright. Thats what I picked mine up for anyways.

Obx 4-2-1 Header - NikiterZTS - 10-09-2006

That's basically what I have on my car right now, although my flex looks more like the regular flex with the curved extended pipe as part of the flex section and not part of the cat section. I hope there are gaskets and O2 sensor extensions in that plastic bag. This setup can be had new from McNews for about $750US plus exchange, plus brokerage across the border.

The cat keeps you legal and should pass e-testing.

The install takes about 6 hours. The old EGR tube was a bitch to try to remove from the stock header and there isn't much room when installing the heat shield so the fans have to be dropped.

As far a performance, other than FI this mod produced the most noticable increase in performance of any other bolt-on.

However, be prepared for L O U D!

This is a sound clip of my OBX 4-2-1 and a MBRP catback 2.25" exhaust....

Not too loud at idle but loud once you get into the throttle.

thanks

OBX headers the ones they sell on ebay, are they safe to buy from there? like quality wize

Obx 4-2-1 Header - hardk0re - 10-10-2006

As long as its geniune OBX it should be no problems. I've seen them and they are really top notch quality for what your paying.

BUT honestly 600 bucks for that SVT setup would be real nice for a legal and stock looking setup.

Obx 4-2-1 Header - NikiterZTS - 10-10-2006

so he says $580 with the shipping

Obx 4-2-1 Header - habmann - 10-10-2006

Thats not a bad deal. I'd make sure that that will bolt up to your exhaust system without problems. Its more than an OBX but its nice to be able to keep it emissions legal without having to weld a cat in somewhere else.

detailed SVT header installation instructions

T-dotzx3 and I used the above instructions which were pretty clear and straight forward.

Make sure the exhaust components are cooled down.

The stock EGR tube was a bitch to try to remove from the stock header, as was the O2 sensor closest to the flange on the stock cat. You may need a special O2 sensor socket that gives relief to the wires that are still attached to the sensor. Some of the bolts connecting the exhaust components may be rusty and seized.

You may have to relocate the power steering line that crossed in front of the engine. When I say relocate I mean move it out of the way when installing the SVT header and re-attaching it in a slightly different location to make room for the heat shield which I suggest putting on to keep the heat in control. The heat shield works extremely well in keeping the heat away from intake and radiator.

The fans have to be removed to give you more room to attach the header and heat shield.

The rest was pretty straight forward bolt together.

It did take us about 6 hours all together.

Oh man , that svt setup doenst really turn good numbers on the dyno , so really 600 bucks for something that really doenst give you power.... i dont think its worth it... but hey dont take my word for it , ill bring you some dyno sheets to prouve what im sayin to mondays meet

Good luck , i would buy the obx , weld in a high flow magnaflow cat , and save the other 400 bucks or something to put cams in your engine
