I see they are made for the 2.3L. I'm aware my 2.0L is pretty much the same engine, so would Stage 1's work in my engine? I'd love to upgrade the head and intake manifold but that's a lot of cash for N/A :(

Good question. Just doing some trolling, seems that the d2.3 and the 2.0 cams are the same (at least on the intake).

Check on the Jet or FF on the Duratec FAQ. They "say" it will match. However you should get a more professional opinion before going ahead.

Crower also makes cams for the 2.0/2.3l engine as well. Crane also had some, but I'm pretty sure they're out of production.

Here is a link to some Crowers:

These guys have the whole selection:

Cool, thanks for the links and info guys.

I saw on focaljet that one guy had a problem with some of the crower cams i think it was he bought, he had HTP doing a build on his motor with a upgraded head and he ended up putting a hole in one of the pistons because they cams sent an intake valve into it, he swapped to a 2.3 and new head and they worked fine. check FF and FJ for sure and see what people have that works as you dont want to mess up such a new car for starters and you dont wanna end up pooching ur motor

Cosworth Camshafts - tetra - 08-27-2009

For sure man, I don't plan on doing cams for a little bit.. Just wanted to inform myself on what works. I've heard of people finding 2.3L heads in junkyards for like 100 bucks, just need to clean it up and good to go. Cause there's really no point upgrading to the Cosworth intake manifold without a 2.3L head.

Cosworth Camshafts - GFXjamie - 08-27-2009

is the 2.3L head any different then the 2.0L? i didnt think there was a difference, i thouught deck height, teeth on cam gears and stock intake mani were the only things different... ill have to do some more reading i suppose!

BTW im doing a 2.3L swap this winter :D Picking up a 2.3l likely next month if all goes as planned and ppl pay me what they owe me.

Cosworth Camshafts - tetra - 08-27-2009

Nice, are you getting it brand new?
The head is pretty much the same, obviously the difference is the size 2.0 vs 2.3.
The thing with 2.3L is that the stock intake manifold was causing a bottleneck and thus upgrading to the Cosworth is a good deal. Upgrading to the Cosworth IM on a 2.0L, well then the head becomes the bottleneck.

So it kind of sucks for us 2.0L guys, need to spend more money.

Cosworth Camshafts - GFXjamie - 08-27-2009

used motor with about 50k on it, under 1000$.

Also the difference in displacement is made up by the stroke of the motor and not the bore. bore is same size on both 4 cylinder duratecs, the 2.3l has the butterflies on it like on a qr25de nissan motor or i think like an SPI motor has, opens up for more air flow at WOT and certain RPMs i think.

Cosworth Camshafts - tetra - 08-27-2009

Nice, good price..
The 2.3L head for Ford Racing is so expensive, mind you it's all polished and such but sounds like you got a good deal.

Cosworth Camshafts - GFXjamie - 08-27-2009

well this is a complete 2.3l, with a year of warranty on it aswell. I will then likely sell my 2.0l with 65k on it along with transmission as im getting another tranny so i can do some changes to it aswell

Cosworth Camshafts - tetra - 08-27-2009

Nice, ATX to MTX swap? heh

Cosworth Camshafts - GFXjamie - 08-28-2009

already got 5 speed, doing 4.06 gears, maybe LSD and im gunna see if i can upgrade synco's aswell. gotta do some research on it. 3rd gear is crap in the MTX so i wanna make it a little stronger

Cosworth Camshafts - tetra - 08-28-2009

Nice.. LSD ftw!

Cosworth Camshafts - tetra - 08-29-2009

Ahh man! Randy at FS just told me that the Cosworth cams don't work with 2008+.
Ford changed the design of the cams in this year, so looks like no cams for me :(

Unless Crower makes some for 2008+

Cosworth Camshafts - GFXjamie - 08-31-2009

thats weird... wanna buy my motor then and do cams once i remove it haha... 66k on the clock tho... or just do a complete build... thats really really really weird tho... maybe thats what you get for 4 more hp stock lol

LOL who knows, I'm still waiting for a response from Crower since they list 2.0L Duratec, and the Cosworth is 2.3L so we'll see what they say.
