When I get my new car is there anything I should do as far as cleaning it to give it a protective coat of some sort. Should I do anything to the new paint? Interior? Bunny need your expert advice!

Any type of paint sealant and uv protectant wax/polish is a great idea!
regular service is the key....dont go months between cleaning...and above all when you see bird s*** and other contaminants...CLEAN THEM OFF ASAP!!!!
But yeh..paint sealant is good to do!

Hey all! I picked up my new Focus on Friday and am wanting to keep it looking good. I have read some of the detailling suggestions both here and on other forums. I am wondering about the correct drying procedures. Is there any real difference if I use a chamois, or towel?
Will one leave scratches, or mar the finish?
Can one wax a car too much, or is that a personal preferrence issue?
This is my first new car (just replaced a '91 Escort) and am unsure as to what to do next. So, I thought I'd tag along with this thread to get some tips.

Well, seems proper enough. I have been using The Absorber for over two years now, and swear by it. They're $20 at Crappy Tire, and work wonders! I'd give it a once over with a good paste wax before winter to protect from salt/sand, and wait till summer hits before getting too involved with waxes and whatnot.

I've also been using The Absorber for a little while now. The thing is great. No streaks, fast drying time, and best of all, it's designed to be put away while still wet!! No air drying space needed. I was using a chamois for a bit, but I was never satisfied. The Absorber is great for the money! Simoniz also makes their own version of the product, but every time I check C.Tire, they never have it in stock.

MAKE SURE YOU KEEP IT CLEAN.
As well as it dries, it can also leave fine scratches and swirls.

I suppose I could read the instructions when I buy one, but, do I swipe it across the car, or place it on the car and pat dry it?
As far as paste waxes go, is the NXT worth the $30? If I wax it within the next week or so should that be ok (as euro_zx5 suggests before the snow flies), or should I do it more frequently and stop about the first snow fall?
I'm sorry to be such a noob, but as I said, this is my first new car. The cars I had driven before were in various stages of rust and made it difficult to wash them properly. For the most part I just drove them through the car wash at the gas stations.

I dunno, it's still a brand new car. Some may say don't wax it yet, i'd say if you want to wax it before the snow hits, do it on a somewhat warm day, and after properly washing it.

Any coating is better than NO coating... simple put. I think I'm gonna try the new turtle was line this year... I use the Meguirs Gold class stuff now works good for me...
