lol well it's taught in most universitys so beleave that... it's all in the math... math dosn't lie, the only non mathimatical variable that can effect it is the unpredictable phenomena known to us as emotion...

I have to find the article, but some of the assumptions made for AI are inherently wrong. For the equations to work, you have to assume that intelligence is a mathematical process. And it's not.
In fact, one of the biggest hurdles to date for AI programmers is the fact that they are unable to build an AI that truly learns. They can program an AI that 'learns' within the confines of their programming, but it's just exercises in mathematizing limited functions. There's no real way for AI to 'build' it's experiences.
Currently a 'smart' AI is an overglorified search engine coupled with analog inputs and outputs.
Even for human-computer interfaces... sure you can add in extra memory and whatnot, but the brain still has to do the extra work. The only thing you eliminate currently is the keyboard and the screen. Sure you have increased response times, but you're still having to 'think' the whole process through. Whereas a great majority of your personality and intelligence is a reactionay response built up through experience.
And if a program complex enough to do such a thing were ever created, I'd bet that there's a spelling mistake somewhere in the code that would blow it right up. Imagine a brain that gets the blue screen of death...
So I'm not worried. I'll wait till they figure out how to do proper analog logic, clockless logic and truly formative storage and processing before I worry about them taking over the planet.

it's a bit of a generalization, I guess anything can be broken down into mathematical equations, but you still have to bridge the gap between current binary processing and electro-chemical computing that the brain does.
Just that, in that wikipedia article, they assume that super AI can correlate to Moore's Law and other existing computational models... and it doesn't.
A lot of the AI work you see being done today are good exercises in programatic AI simulation, but it's still eons away from true AI (or the type that would put humans at possible risk).
