02-09-2007
TOKYO ââ¬â Honda Motor Co. will recall 45,335 Civic Hybrid sedans ââ¬â mostly sold in North America ââ¬â to fix defective voltage converters that could short-circuit the engine.
The Japanese automaker plans to recall 7,219 of the vehicles sold on its home turf and another 38,116 sold overseas, according to the Associated Press. Documents were filed Thursday with Japan's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport about the problem, which could stop the Civic Hybrid engine and keep it from restarting.
The affected vehicles were built between September 2005 and September 2006, the company said.
What this means to you: If you own one of the affected Civic Hybrids, have it checked out with your dealer.
