Good News For Mbrp Fence-sitters
#1
Just a FYI - I stopped in at MBRP on the way down south last Thursday. Ed says they're having a rebound in sales for the MBRP and they have no plans to discontinue it any time soon. So if you're rocking any Focus and you've wondered about an exhaust... MBRP will be there.

There was an ugly rumour circulating before that MBRP was discontinuing the exhaust, so I decided to stop in and see about that myself.

Mystery solved. :)

Daily driver 1: 2007 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sport "S"

33" BFG Mud-Terrain KM2s, lots of Rough Country gear - bumper, 2.5" lift, swaybar disconnects, Superwinch 10,000lb winch, Detroit Locker in rear D44 axle, custom exhaust, K+N filtercharger, Superchips-tuned.

Daily driver 2: 2006 Subaru Legacy GT

COBB Stage 1+ package - AccessPort tuner, COBB intake and airbox. Stage 2 coming shortly - COBB 3" AT stainless DP and race cat, custom 3" Magnaflow-based exhaust and Stage 2 COBB tune.

Sadly, MBRP was scratched from the list when they stated they can't adapt the 2-1/2" SVT exhaust to the ST or make one outright in 2-1/2".
TEAM PITA: Don't settle for a wannabe, only accept the real deal.

What would be that hard? Cut down the leading pipe that connects to the cat and extend the tail by 6 inches or so? Heck, transplant the cutoff piece rearward!

Hard, no.

But if I wanted to custom fab my own exhaust and void the warranty on it in the process, it doesn't really make sense, does it?

Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against MBRP; They've got good prices and a decent reputation. I was interested enough to call MBRP and ask them about it. I'm disappointed, though; they have the 2.5" for the SVT, and the 2.25" pattern for the sedan. Why they cannot offer a 2.5" for the ST is beyond me. The 2.3L is 15% more displacement than both the 2.0L Duratec AND Zetec; at the same RPM it's trying to get rid of 15% more exhaust gases.

I don't want to fab -- I have access to people with benders and mandrels -- I want something that I can bolt in and have a warranty on. Even if it means I have to pay a bit more.
