Chrysler said that it was recalling 131,500 Jeep Grand Cherokee sport-utility vehicles because the plastic blades in the engine's cooling fan could separate and cause an injury, The Associated Press reported.

The recall, the second in two days involving the Jeep SUV, covers 2000 and 2002 model-year Jeep Grand Cherokees with 4.0-liter engines.

Chrysler said if the fan blade separated while the hood was open, the blade could break through a cover and strike a person, although no accidents or injuries have been reported. However, the automaker noted that there were 163 complaints in a letter to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, which had been investigating the defect since July 2005.

As well there is another recall on the Jeep Grand Cherokees as DaimlerChrysler AG said Monday that it was recalling about 111,000 Jeep Grand Cherokees after receiving reports of overheating and fires in heated seats. The automaker said it had received 32 complaints of the front seat electric heater element overheating or leading to a fire. DaimlerChrysler spokesman Max Gates said the automaker knew of a few cases of injuries but did not have an exact number.

DaimlerChrysler does not know of any crashes resulting from the defect, Gates said.

The recall involves the 2003-2004 model years of the Grand Cherokee sport utility vehicle with heated seats.

Owners are expected to receive letters about the recall in July.
