So I have the week off from work and I need to do something! lol. So I want to pull the moldings off and start the prep work so that they can be painted. So I was wondering if someone could run me through a how to? Like what grit of sandpaper I need to use, do I need anything else? do I have to take all the glue off from under the panels or can it stay on and I just reinstall it? If it comes off do I have to put new glue under it again, and where would I get it from?
I'm just gonna do the prep work and then have a friend who owns a body shop paint them for me. Thanks.

Use 3m adhesive remover if you can find it, otherwise goo-gone will work just fine. I didnt use a hairdryer when i pulled mine off, but I heard it makes it easier to remove. Prepping them, start with a low grit, then workyour way high, I used 300, then 600, then 1000. You need to scrape off all the old tape behind the mouldings and put some new double sided tape to stick them back on. Make sure youi get the tape that is designed for exterior use, otherwise your mouldings will fall off after a week.

Ok so I decided to start with the hatch yesterday, well I got it off but that was after the second I touched the outside screws they broke off they were all rusted. Oh well no big deal I'll just use double sided tape on the ends. Anyways does anyone know how to get the door panel ones off. I just took apart my whole door and realized there were no screws back there  So do I just try to heat them up and pull or what? I don't want to screw anything up.

There are no screws holding on the mouldings. There ARE pegs in the back of the mouldings which line up with mounding holes in your door. Theyre held on entirely by double sided tape. You should start from one side, and soak it with goo-gone or that 3m stuff, then heat it with a heatgun/hair dryer and slowly workyour way back, becarefull not to heat it too long or you could melt the plastic.
