E-brake: How To Adjust?

How do you adjust the e-brake? I have an '06 Wagon (auto). I find that the e-brake handle has to be raised too high to engage the brake, and after many clicks.

Put car in park, chock wheels if on slope.
Remove boot from around parking brake handle. Pull handle up 4 notches. Release locking nut, and turn adjusting nut until happy. Re-tighten locking nut. Replace boot. Check operation before resuming normal driving.

This is how it's done on the 00-05 models. I doubt your is any different.

was wondering this myself.
i just adjusted mine, works great again.
