Yet another sad case of "not all dealerships are created equal".

I guess the "bigger city" dealers stop caring about the customer's wishes and concerns. It's too bad you're not up here... they love working on custom Foci and are extremely accomodating.

Ok so I took the car from Eastgate Ford (by flatbed) and got it down to Lethal Motorsports. They wouldn't let me take the car until I paid $545.10 for the tranny removal. Now on the bill it says it took 6hrs of R & R!!!! These bastards not only went out of their way to rip the tranny out of my car they also BILLED me for something they didn't even do! The tranny was sitting in my trunk NOT back in the car. For you people that don't know what R & R is, it's Remove & Replace. They did half of that. These bastards are at least going down for something.

This is just another reason to hate Ford. Not to mention I will get my money back, this is going to head office.

If you think Ford of Canada is giving you money, think again ... you'll have difficulty getting the time of day from them. Ford will only send you back to the dealership - you're beef is with them; the manufacturer has no control or responsibility for what they do in the service department, except as it may relate to the parts and the warranty they provide.

Not to be harsh here, but if you didn't authorize them to take the tranny out, why in heaven's name did you pay the money?! Man you just gave them a gift - you paid for a repair you didn't get (and by your account you didn't authorize) and then you took a problem vehicle off their hands.

I hope you don't think that you are now in a position of strength here ... because your best position was where you were at ... with your money in your wallet and with your car tieing up a bay in their shop, and with a few hours invested in it.

Now you have no leverage. Other than winning in court (12 months from now, earliest) I really don't know how you expect to force them to give you a refund.

ZTW has a point. You either go to court, or you remain a humourous anecdote to the shop monkeys there.

And I believe R+R is Remove and Replace... they used the same lingo on my suspension install.

Ya but by the manual (fords Shop Manual) R & R is remove and replace. My buddies shop has a copy of it. As for the $$ I need my car back on the road ASAP, I just can't leave it rotting away in the Ford parking lot as I argue with them. I had no choice, they stopped the guy with the flatbed because I never paid them yet. And I dont care if I take them to court, Ford's head office is getting a call first and if they dont do anything it is going to court. I ain't letting Ford roll over me, I may be a young kid at only age 19 but they aint picking on me. f*** them.

Just charging over $3k to replace parts on the used tranny is criminal.

I'd love the dealership to try and push that one by me.

I'll have my car back tomorrow with a new ACT Stage 1 clutch and a differential. As for the $545.10 that was my Dad's idea, it was his credit card that paid for it and he has stronger ties with the dealership. So technically, its his problem now. I have a pretty good feeling he will get his $$ back, afterall he used to be a lawyer.......

Ok, time to chime in.
Matt, you want to blame someone else for your whoes and mistakes all the time through the rest of your life?
Look, you need to learn a lesson here and grow up. You signed a document and allowed the dealer to do the diagnosis and R&R they did. Learn to read things first before you sign.
As a son of a man who "used to be a lawyer", that is one thing your Dad should have taught you.
You seem to be making alot of childish mistakes with the ownership of an automobile. I really think you should give it up.

I've been there! Ford Canada is not responsible for any Ford dealerships, they are all independantly owned and operated. Go to the manager at dealership, then owner, then you will have to go through the courts...

I'm not blaming anyone for my mistakes. Yes I drive my car hard and I have my fun with it, but when something breaks I KNOW it was MY fault to start with and I have to FIX IT. What pisses me off the most is they KNOW I am a young kid so why should they bother listening to me when I asked them kindly to CALL ME FIRST if they were to do anything MAJOR to my car.
This is the problem, thats what pisses me off the most. NONE of this would have happened if they made 1 f***ing phone call. Anyone else I know that goes to that dealership ALWAYS gets a call before they do something like tearing the tranny outta your car.
And what I dont understand is they covered the Diagnostic under warrenty and charged me for R & R when the tranny is in my trunk! So they took the tranny out and took it apart and found out what the problem was. Now why wasn't the labor covered under warrenty? All of a sudden they see a burnt out differential so my warrenty is void? Lets just charge the kid up the ass! Thats bulls***. They can't do that.
As for the signing the paper thing, ya my dad has told me that before, and yes thats my mistake for not reading the entire thing, but I used to trust this dealership. Afterall I thought I could trust them after your entire family has been returning customers for 15 yrs and they call you by name when you walk in the service door.

And about the childish mistakes......... you live and you learn, cause your so perfect right Mr. f***tard? Of course you never did anything stupid when you were young.

I made lots of mistakes when I was young. And I continue to make mistakes. But I look at my mistakes as exactly that. A mistake I made. Learn from it and move on.

Not bitch about it on a car forum about a company that made no mistake at all. You were the cause of your error and your cost. But you don't seem to be able to see that. Pay for your mistake, learn from it and move on. But quit whining about Ford when they had nothing to do with your issue.

In fact, I had the same type of problem with Terrace about 10 years ago with my Thunderbird. But as I signed the paper, I also noted on the paper in writing that there was a box to check off if you wanted a call first and a box to have all the used parts returned. I always do that. So when they didn't call me, replaced my front brakes and rotors and gave me the bill for $800, I said F>U>. They too insisted I pay for the repair. But I had even more for them. I brought my friends girlfriend with me at the time, a lawyer, and she proceeded to run up one side and down the other of the service manager because less than 2000km before I had had the brakes done and I still had the receipt.

So what did I learn? Read everything before you sign your life (or your car) away.

I had the same problem with dixie ford last summer. I had to threaten legal action.

They returned the car to me w/ no charge.

The key was, i didnt pay for it in the first place.

I feel the attack on matt was unwarranted bryan, It seems that ford dealerships consistently have this problem especially with transmission repairs. Seems to me like a cash grab more and more every time i hear it.

So far, On this site we've had the same transmission issues with

Myself
Ticketz
Burnin21

and everyone wonders why people are getting pissed off with ford and fords customer service.

i still love ford's cars, but they should have better control over their dealerships.

I've had the 300C for 2 months now. Ive had to take it into service once. For a blown speaker.
It was replaced, no questions asked.

Thursday, the car is going in for its 40,000km service and to have a couple issues resolved

Foglights didnt work when i picked the car up
and i hit a bad pothole and damaged a tie rod.
The dealership is covering all the expenses, labour etc. AND giving me a loaner for the day.

Hands down, my chrysler dealership experience is better than ANY i've ever had at ford

I've learned from this mistake already, I know I should just give it up, but it just makes me so mad everytime I think about it. Its just one of those things, you think you can go to somebody you trust, somebody who will tell you the problem before trying to fix it with using your money. It takes me over a week and a half to make $545, so why should all that time and money go to Ford? Its such a waste to me.

Even the man that operated the flatbed told me you got screwed and I wouldn't let this go if I were you. And your right, what am I suppose to do about it now?

Anyways on the bright side I should get my ride back tomorrow *fingers crossed* still waiting on Ford parts.

I don't think Burnin21 is complaining really, he posted to ask for help. It's hard being a young "punk" in their eyes. I don't think telling him how he messed up is going to help him any.

Scooba: do you think your treatment has anything to do with the car you drive? I highly doubt a neon owner would get the same treatment :)
