Duratec: Quality Spark Plugs For Everyday Driving
#1
I would like to change the spark plugs because now the motor has 130,000 km and I am still using the factory ones. I am not really into racing stuff, so I need rather something durable (not Bosch) for everyday driving. I would appreciate your input, folks :)

Get another set of factory plugs. They last at least 130k right?

factory plugs should be all you need.

unless you're FI or aggressively chasing NA records, you'd be wasting your money.

Factory plugs cost 17 USD a piece! Now, I am not sure which way I would waste more money :(

Last set of plugs I bought from the dealer (this summer) cost me 10.00 ea CAD. Not too many aftermarket plugs listed for the Zetec IIRC - is it the same for Duratec?

2003 Focus ZX5 infra-red Track Rat - R*I*P

I fear it may even be worse with Duratec. So far, I have been able to find only a couple of manufacturers that have plugs for my engine. All aftermarket ones don't even stay anywhere near the stockers (I believe it is NGK Iridium plugs that are supposed to run 160K km).

P.S. Finding the right parts for the Duratec has always been rather a challenge for me. If I could foresee it a while back, I would certainly go with Zetec. I don't care that I would loose some 15 hp...
