So I got myself a high-speed waxer this weekend and went at her.
I managed to get my car and the wife's 96 Tercel.
3-step mothers wax and glaze / clay bar / perfect waxing weather on Saturday / a case of beer =
So now the cars are ready for winter.
The paint on the Tercel was VERY oxodized...I didn;t think I could get it back.
As for the swirls and scratched that were bothering me so much....I got almost ALL of them out.

Makita high speed buffer 9227CY Side Handle
The Makita high speed buffer is also one of the top buffers on the market. It is lightweight, quiet, smooth, and powerful. The new option of the side handle makes this buffer considerably easier to handle now.
The technical specs of the buffer are as follows:
Powerful 10 Amp motor
Electronic speed control maintains constant speed even under loads.
Variable speed (0-3000) for maximum control
Pre-set speed dial (600-3000 RPM) with lock in button
2 position side handle for better control
Spindle lock for easy pad changing
18 1/2 inch length, 6.6 pounds

True dat! I bought a battery powered Simonize polisher and its okay for small jobs but thats about it. Get what you pay for though (cost around $30 IIRC)

Damn... results like that make me wish I could use an orbital buffer (Esp. the Tercel, I remember seeing it at the BBQ, what a difference)
I guess I'll just stick to Turtle Wax Ice and prayer (Gave it another go over on Saturday while my dad was asleep  )

The little simonize ones just have the RPMs to do a good job. Alll they do is vibrate your hands into numbness. Not to mention...because they don't spin fast enough....you go thorugh a million bonnets.
