the reason it says -1Hg the entire powerband is because they could find a suitable readout for the boost, the nipple on the manifold is hard to get it with my strut brace..

the end result was peak 185.7fwhp, and 163.4fwtq

so, any opinions?

Why are you asking what happened?

Seems like a concervative run with good A/F all the way up the band. You could have your RPM cutoff set at 7200RPM and that would increase your numbers closer to 200whp.

Other than that, some minor tweaking with your A/F.

What were you looking for?
what does the kit say you should get out of it?
I think if you were looking for 200whp, you might need to replace the cams or even try to put in some adjustable cam gears to change the exhaust cam significantly.

That's helpful..........here's one for you. Paint your car and drop the dual exhaust.

Dual exhaust=rice :D

Owned!

Altho even just front and rear bumpers would be a step in the right direction.

Then get used to the haters, cuz there's one thing that we hate around here and thats rice.

i balance out my rice tho. so it aint that bad.

Do you have a before PWSC dyno?

Your far too rich in the top end for my opinion, the tunes sent by PW are probably real safe and conservative. I'm sure cleaning up the A/F is going to gain you back allot of power.

A before dyno would really help determine where the problem is.

since you guys asked.

powerworks claims 220+ fwhp and 200+fwtq.

Ive found out from some of their guys that my bypass valve may not be working, or I have a giant vaacuum leak. because my boost gets pegged at 5psi and it should be 6psi at wot, and climbs to 12 at redline.

so there IS a problem with it. when I saw that dyno, I was shocked. the guys who dyno'd said they were great numbers, but I know the car can do better.

4700 and up, thats some rich stuff!!!

Try and aim for 11.5-11.7 at WOT, you should be able to squeeze another 10-20whp just playing with that afr.

...and I was just readin the FS site, the numbers they quote are flywheel if Im not mistaken. The way you guys praised this kit I would have thought the 220 would have been wheel figures.

so 187 is right on the dot for what they are advertising...220whp - 15% drivetrain loss.

the numbers they quote are far off. several dynos prove that this kit should be over 220fwhp with just an exhaust

what kind of dynos?

There can be HUGE differences between dynos.

Dyno could be a factor, if they are dynojets that others are using and your running a mustang dyno your figures will be lower than theirs.

Also not all engines are equal from the factory, sometimes you've got a factory freak or a factory dud. I know for a fact that the engine I started with in my car was a factory dud, it made 105whp w/ intake, header, highflow and exhaust. Not very impressive. I know this is why I am substancially lower in HP than others running the same setup as me.

Thats why I was asking for maybe a before kit dyno, you could be in the same situation until you identify the problem.

is that because sometimes factory does different timming on camshafts ect.?

yes, when they tune the engines, they arent tuning for horsepower, they tune for emissions and mpg.

Wow, still under 200fwhp....

Wonder if I'd be in the same scenario....if that were the case, I'd not even bother boosting my car...just pay it off or sell it privately, and buy the Lincoln LS I want...lol...

Still, with over 180hp at the wheels, I'm sure your car at least feels a helluva lot faster...

Good luck man!

is dyno the only way to check if ur car is a factory freack or a dud

that is very intersting.... i wouldn't wanna buy a low hp focus

numbers are off.
i'm guessing there is a problem with the recirc/diverter valve which is keeping it from boosting past 6psi.
every PW car we have had on the rollers is pushing 215-220+ right out of the box depending on the other mods on the car.

there is something wrong with either the Install, Lornes car or a bunch os small issues.
i doubt there is a vac leaks as it would lean out, not richen up.

well, I wanted to figure out why this was happening.

so I unplugged all the vacuum hoses and plugged them back in. it didnt change anything power-wise.

but then I was turned onto the different types of dynos by thefrush and similar posts on here. I did some research and its shown that Dyno Dynamics dynos historically read a lot lower than dynojets.

so if i threw this on a dynojet, it should read what mitch, focussport, powerworks, and a couple of jetters have been seeing.

I found some interesting data on a RX7 forum,

1992 Ford Ranger, Dyno'd at various locations:
Dynapack @ A'PEXi - 157hp/179lb-ft
Dynamic Test Sytems @ XS Engineering - 155hp/181lb-ft
Maha @ AMS - 105hp/120lb-ft
Dyno Dynamics @ Vishnu - 102hp/142lb-ft
Dynojet @ HKS - 152hp/193lb-ft
Dynojet @ K&N - 156hp/196lb-ft.

so im not worried anymore. I booted it down the road and saw 9psi today, so everything should be tickedy-boo. the next time im in vancouver (which may be in 3-4 weeks) I may stop by a dynojet to confirm this.

the dropoff is usually around 15-17%, so if I were to take those numbers. on a dynojet the car should be pushing 213-219fwhp and 180-190fwtq

Ummm, no. doen't work like that.
the differences between dynos are in setup and opperator.

by that logic, all of our runs on dyno dynamic dynos are too low, our cams doing 250fwhp are actually doing 285fwhp with no internal work and no boost upgrades?
http://www.zx3tuning.com/images/pics/pw-j-dyno.jpg
My car which dyno'ed at 218fwhp is actually doing 250fwhp with exhaust work....?
http://www.zx3tuning.com/images/pics/dyno.jpg

somehow i doubt that....

woow, what reason would you have not to boost, were you actually going to spend $5,000 for a 200hp na focus, honestly i see no reason not to boost any car, even f1 is going to start, indy already does it.
