plus you roll up to another car in an srt-4 amd people don't want to go cause it's obvious its got a turbo. roll up in a focus and almost anyone will race you. and if its force fed then when it over people are gonna be goin what the hell just happened

#1 problem with it that's already been stated - IT'S A FREAKIN NEON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

#2 problem with it, which I may be incorrect about but I don't think so - It's been discontinued and therefore you won't find a new one and any used one you find will have the absolute living schnikees beat right out of it, if not engine wise then drivetrain wise and being a Dodge the tranny is gonna go poof.

I wouldn't buy one. A friend of mine had one, he chose it over a new Mustang. As he puts it to me, "I have to look at that f***in' car every day and on dish out my payment twice a month, I coulda had a "Stang. Please smack me."

Of course I oblige quite happily and willingly and I also laugh at him. :P

You have an unfair advantage of the SRT-4. Its got all its body panels so its gonna weight more. :P

Maybe??? BUT there is ALOT of SRT 4 that are really quick with not many up grades...Mazdaspeed 3 is quick but I think SRT is faster....

My brothers SVT Focus with cold air intake...best time 15.5....times also depend on location.....stock focus will not do 15.3 or 15.2 around here, maybe 16.2....

Gears, headers, and exhaust will only get you so far on a 5.0. That might put you in the 14's with about 210 hp at the wheels.

If you go the 5.0 route, do a complete head/intake/cam system (Trick Flow, Edelbrock Performer, Holley Systemax), chassis stiffening (k member, subframe connectors, rear upper and lower control arms), gears (3.73's or 4.10's) and a full exhaust. Now your in the 12's and around 325 hp.

Then add a power adder of your choice... 500 hp, here you come... :headbang:

Keep in mind, going to a 5.0 brings the 5.0 problems. Chassis from 1979, V-8 fuel mileage, rough ride from a built chassis, next-to-no back seat, no luggage room, and the list goes on.

If you want to build a fun car with some power, and FI is your thing, keep the Focus and find a 1985-89 Merkur XR4TI. You can find them usually around the $2500 mark, and can make a reliable 300 hp out of the 2.3L. And you can blow your wad on upgrades, make it handle and stop amazingly, and still have a 4-door family sedan to drive Monday-Friday. That is my plan in the next year or so... B)

Oh, and I remember when the SRT-4 came out... Car & Driver only had two complaints. Rough ride, and it was a Neon. They pitted it against a WRX and an Evo, and it beat them both around the track, but couldn't do it in the day to day driving.

I don't mind the neons, and I don't find them ugly.

Sure you could laugh, but they'd still be going faster than you.

Zero to sixty in 6 or under?

Maybe if you do more burn outs in your driveway, you'll get the tires nice and warmed up to beat a SRT-4....................NOT!!!!

SRT-4's are good performance cars for the money, no one can deny that.

Focus is FOR SURE not the car to have if what you want is performance.
