B-day Cards For Shane
#1
Good Morning:)
On Tuesday morning Lynne, a baker at CHEO, called KISS FM to let them know of Shane's B-day wish. He would like to set the world record for the most B-day cards received. Shane is a seven year old boy with leukemia and has been at CHEO for the past year. His B-day is May 30th, so we have lots for time to help make this happen. Please cut and paste this message and send it to as many people as you know, to help him achieve his goal. All birthday cards can be sent to:

So, I just copied and pasted this and sent it to my entire work email list, about 160 people. Hopefully this gets going, it's kinda cool. I feel for the young guy. I hope he has a great life, at least what he can enjoy of it. A friend of mine's son died of Leukemia 3 yrs ago, we did a Christmas in July at Vancouver Childrens for the kids that summer, I will never forget the look in those kids eyes when they saw me dressed as Santa come into their rooms, especially Jake. I also will never forget how much I cried that afternoon when I got back in my car to head home. Hopefully some of you guys will get in on this.

CHILD PROFILE
Name: Shane
Age: 7
Diagnosis: A.L.L. Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia
Likes: all sports, building things, video games
Dislikes: being in the hospital for long periods of time
Favorite thing in the whole world: Lego

At almost 5 years old Shane was diagnosed with A.L.L. After 1 month into the treatment he was in early remission, meaning there were no cancer cells in his blood. Shane's family was very pleased with the early results, but his protocol called for 130 weeks of treatment. Then on July 6th, 2006 Shane relapsed after completing 108 of the 130 weeks. It was a shock to everyone including his doctors. Shane may have to undergo a bone marrow transplant down the road, but the good thing is that his brother Jacob is a match. Presently, there is no sign of cancer in Shane's system since relapsing.
