I believe that's been rectified with the 1.5 update..

the machine is capable, but they really didn't QA the software well IMO.

not that I would particularily care, as I think I played GT2 maybe twice on my PS2 and then just made the switch to ps2 games.. never looked back. (tho I haven't played Trap Gunnar lately).

btw... The original god of war is a genre defining classic as well.. definitely worth the greatest hits pricing.

I have a PS3, all the PS2 games i've played look fine on my 48" bigscreen.

Playing FFXII at the moment.

The only game that won't play properly is Guitar Hero atm, the game will play but the guitar controller doesn't. When you start a PS2 game you have to enumerate the SIXAXXIS controller by pushing the PS button, that the guitar controller doesn't have. They'll have the adapter for that in March.

Don't believe everything you read on the net.

Funny I was thinking the same thing - PS3 is too rich for my blood..360 mite be the way to go!

I like how you can create your own style with color and face plates..

My roomate has an Xbox, a PS2, and now a PS3...all of which he seldom plays because he's a friggin "WOW" kid...

He said he bought the PS3 because it's the cheapest Blu Ray drive you can buy right now, and the fact that it's backwards compatible, etc. I think he bought the one with the big Hard Drive in it...

When he does play it, he plays using an HDMI connection to his 52" DLP...

Me, I'm still rockin the 30" 16:9 HD CRT (JVC I'Art Pro) and a brand new Sega Dreamcast (had like 20 or more games from my last one, so figured I'd keep them, and get a new console, which I did from an L.A. vendor on Ebay).

Setting the TV to "game" mode, and my receiver to dolby 5.1 Game makes Rez Evil look and sound awesome...even if they are older games now...
Bleeding Ford Blue again...

360 is a good choice for a next-gen platform, its got some pretty sweet games out. Plus, a ton of games that will be released for the ps3 will also be released for the 360. Easier on the wallet too. Oh and Xbox Live... pretty amazing.

Excellent.. I'm not the only one that doesn't have any new toys :P. I'm still rocking a 27" CRT and the best console I have is the Dreamcast.. with 60+ burned games I still only play Soul Caliber.

I'm not a big console fan though, the Wii is fun at parties and the Xbox has some nice graphics but I'm still a PC gamer man. There's just something about a machine that will let me play games, read nerdy car forums, AND have access to unlimited pornography that tops everything else.

I haven't picked up my PS2 controller since November TBH.

I was routinely hurting folks in Joint Ops: Escalation on PC for a while, but then I got back into EVE Online and well... yeah, that was 2 months ago now :P

some fast facts:

- a PS3 with 60GB hdd and blueray costs $1 more than a 20GB xbox360 with HD DVD

- blue ray is outselling HD DVD 2-1

- xbox260 has more maturity -- so more quality games

still hard to predict the winner.. I'm still pulling for the PS3, but I'm waiting for them to address a couple things I'm concerned about...

Some others:

My PS3 has CF, SD and memory stick slots, reads USB drives, can read/play video, mp3, photos. It runs Linux. I have a dedicated mouse and keyboard and Bluetooth BluRay remote control. A PS3 runs every game designed for a PS3, games can be designed around using a 50Gb. For an XBox to do that you have to go out and get the HD Drive.

Is there more games for the 360? Sure, it's been out a year. Things are just getting rolling.

I could have got either. I chose the PS3 because of the BluRay, the fact that you have a huge PS2 library to chose from as well.

The Wii's pretty fun, too. We have a blast playing tennis and bowling with the kids.

Question, will the PS3 output 1080i over component or is it limited to HDMI connections only for that? I ask because my HD set only has component or DVI for HiDef input and if I'm gonna plunk down seven bils for a PS3 I wanna know that I can get the best picture out of it
