Just Cleaned And Polished The Wife's Ride
#1
So what do you think happened next?

I don't have the camera here as she is away and doesn't know.

But let's just say that the Recycling truck tried to mate the back end of my wife's car.
So now I get what I want. A new/er car for her.

Wanna know what I am looking at?

Mazda6Speed (I doubt it) or a SVT Euro Focus out of the US.

Now it's off to get estimates.

They aren't going to fix this. But you never know.

Good thing is they have a $10,000 deductible and want to pay the claim out........in cash!

good things do come out of bad.

But this is going to be a hastle.

sweet! cha-ching! good thing you weren't waxing up the trunk of the car at that time!!!!

so are you still doing that thing were you only get brands under the ford umbrella of brands?

if you are still brand limited i vote for mazdaspeed3 or an xtype jaguar (i don't know if they are actually reliable or not but i saw a lot of almost new 2.5L versions for fairly cheap last time i was car shopping)

if you aren't brand limited get yourself a ///M3 give her your car and call it a day ? :P

The MS3 is okay, but I am not looking at buying new.........right now.

But you never know.

And yes, the Ford embrella is where I am looking.

As for giving her my car........that aint going to happen. I drive a truck.

As for the Jag.......I looked at one but t just isn't a good daily driver. With the expense of the cars and the fact I need this car to go back and forth to work (100kms round trip from the new house), I am not going to pour money into an expensive car that gets a tonne of use.

They person who gets the brunt end of all this is the boy. You see, we have had the wife's car in the parents name to limit his insurance costs so that it only shows that we have 2 cars.......the truck and the Focus(his red one). So now a third car on the insurance moves his car and costs up as he now becomes a primary driver on the most expensive car. Sucks to be him. But I warned him. Right now he only pays $1500 a year for his car ( I pay $650 for the truck).

That's another option, but I would again, go the US and get the Mercury Milan as we both like the look of that car.

like i said.. i dont know what the maintenance on this sucker would be but here's an example of a 3.0L xtype with less than 45k miles for just under USD 14k

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?car_...=1&cardist=2369

with the CDN rockin it might not be a bad option?

EDIT: for around USD 15k i saw a couple with just a bit more than 25k miles.. that was with 5sec of searching on autotrader.. i'm sure with some more actual searching you can find some guy who would let it go on the cheap now that his ARM is exploding and he can barely keep his house

If you're looking at something that's gonna get a ton of miles on it anyways meford, why not get something a tad less pricey to feed & water?

The Fusion/Milan is a good choice but if you're looking to something that's gonna rack up miles, why not get an off lease Focus for example and dress it up right? You can pick up an '05 optioned out like mine with similar mileage (50K) for around 12K now.

Just a thought...

I agree with Nef, a used focus might be good for your wife if she's not bored of them, the Milan I would say go for as it's rare in Canada, and they look much better then the Fusion.

If she wants a bit bigger, their is the new Taurus(s) in 2008, and they really come nicely loaded with a lot of standard features, and the HP bumped up, if it's an SUV like the one she lost what about the Edge?

and if you want something sexy European, and not needing a sedan or SUV, what about the new Volvo C30 Hatch?

If I gave the impression that they are going to give me $10k for the car, then sorry, they aren't that generous.

the car today would be worth at most, $3500. It is very clean and with only 130000kms on it, for a 93, that is super low.

I am going to get estimates, but I threw around the figure of $5000 to him without a blink. If it cost more than $2500 and I think it might be $500 plus for a rental, then I think someone might be getting a nice and easily fixable winter beater real cheap.

I'm so glad that I didn't see pictures of you all cleaned up and naked when I looked at this..

Haven't seen any EAP SVTs around.. especially ones for sale. I take that back, some old lady across the parking lot has TWO of them.. one blue, one silver. very nice. not for sale, i already asked.

speed6 would be nice :)
