Word to the wise.

Those with 2005+ Foci, the fuel FILTER is the same, however the nylon U-Clips are different from previous Foci.

This is a problem because most filter manufacturers include new clips with the new filter, however they don't fit the new-style connector.

And...a pair of new (proper fitting) clips from the dealer will run you $15.

So.....be forewarned. Do NOT break the clips removing them. Trust me, I learned the hard way. Generally I just cut the old clips because it's easier that farting around with them when you're on your back under the car, and they give you the new ones; I ended up having to make an emergency trip to the only late-night dealer in the city 4 hours before leaving town on a vacation.
TEAM PITA: Don't settle for a wannabe, only accept the real deal.

As I said before, I, I repeat I, have been doing it for years now...that would mean that I am getting this info from my own experiences lol...This means, to an illiterate individual like yourself, that IF you use the kit PROPERLY the filter is like new after the cleaning...So I suggest you either read the instructions over again or get a real man to get the job done!

Nik, K&N wouldn't market something called a million mile filter if you weren't able to clean and re-use it. I have one in mine (a K&N) and once cleaned properly it does stay red for quite some time. But your experiences may differ due to dusty road conditions in the areas you may or may not hang out in.

I love my rechargeable/reuseable K&N filter.

Just so you know. K&N filters work better once they get dirty. You CAN clean them and reuse them basically forever as long as there are no holes.

I've had a K&N filter in three vehicles, without problems due to the air induction. A filter gets dirty because it's doing it's job. I'd be worried if it wasn't getting dirty.

K&N are oiled, which attracts dirt, instead of the dirt going into the intake, it goes onto the filter. The standard filter, attracts dirt as well, but the paper on the standard filter gets clogged with that dirt. K&N filters have bigger gaps beween the filter media, allowing more air through the intake, but, no more dirt than the standard filter, because of it being oiled. More airflow, is good.

i tried to do some interweb searching to learn more about filtration rates of different air filters but i came up empty.

i've been really nervous to deviate from OEM for any kind of filteration (air, fuel, oil) device for fear the the aftermarket replacement isn't built to the same spec (ie it filters out less gunk than the OE part)

where'd you get the tech that the K&N filters as well as OE?
