Hi,

Just wondering if anyone knows how to change the Daylight Running Lights into the amber lights instead of the headlights? They burn out too quick..

Please help..

I assume he means the grille signals.

There's a couple of mods for doing this... check http://www.focushacks.com. If it's listed there, then there's a really good chance that downloading the Appearance Mods WinRAR file from the Focus Talk forum will have that same article in PDF format.

This way you can be offline, or print it and take it outside with you. :)

I think we talked about this in the last DRL thread, you'd have to run the wires from the grill to the fuse box, and plug them into where the DRL relay is.. Sort of like how the DRL-foglight mod is done, except the replace the wire going to the fog relay with the wires coming from the grill.

But dont quote me on this, like I said it "should" work, but I dont know if it "will" work, or if it'll damage anything. Paolo knows a lot more about this though, he might tell you the lights will blow up when you turn the car on and you'll fry your electrical system :P

Actually, it IS possible, but, you would have to accept the fact that the park lamp in the grille will always be on, regardless of the position of the light switch selector. You would need to find the middle wire in both of the grille connectors, leave enough wire so that you can allow some connections to be made. Disconnect the middle wire and put a cap/marette on the end that travells back into the car, on the end that goes into the grille, put a Butt connector, and join a wire to that and run it all the way back into the fuse/relay box under the hood. you can do the same for the other side, but it might be easier to run only one wire back from the grilles to the fuse box and just splice both park wires together up front. then the wire running into the fuse/relay box, you would have to remove the DRL relay, find the plug on it that is energized when the car is on, and put a spade connector on the end of the wire, and insert it into that terminal.

Wow.. I just did my fog DRL mod. It is so cool.
Because I have attached a headlight harness to my headlights, my headlights doesn't switch on until I turn the light switch twice. Once my headlights are on, my fog lights will go off (unless I pull the knob for fog lights). It is so so so cool.
Now it is exactly the way Audi is..

I'm going to attempt this "DRL-thru-grille-signals" mod myself in the next little while :)
