I'm in a bind. My '02 Focus SVT is a Canadian-spec car, registered in Ontario. I moved to upstate New York about six months ago, and I've found it is inconvenient to try to "import" and register a Canadian car in the USA. I need to sell this car to a Canadian, who will take it back to Canada.

Probably the easiest solution is to sell to a Canadian car dealer, and take the loss... Can anyone point me to an Ontario dealer, preferably near the USA border ?

Why not sell it privately by listing on Canadian sites, just state it's in the US currently. I would think you'll need to bring it over the border for the buyer though.
How much are you hoping to sell it for?

Details...

-'02 SVT, Canadian Spec, loaded with every available option
-Canadian Winter Package (seat heating, block heater)
-Currently registered in Ontario (expires end of August)
-Currently garaged in Norwich, NY (near Syracuse)
-3dr, 6spd, Silver
-Red+Black partial leather seats
-Full SVT package:
sunroof, fogs, rear wiper, intermittent front wiper, etc
-111,000km
-Well maintained. Owner is engineer. synthetic oil, etc.
-Semi-custom, semi-hidden hitch installed.
(otherwise SVT is stock - no mods).
-History: Minor fender-bender ~3 yrs ago. Replaced hood.

Issues:
-front passenger seat replaced due to blown side airbag
(ran over something solid in roadway. Boom...).
-Needs four new tires. (Cheap in the USA...)
-Driver seat heating intermittent (probably switch problem)
-Windshield Wiper occasionally doesn't park properly (relay problem).
-Scratches on front and back bumper paint

Note: Problems can be fixed at new owner's convenience

This SVT's price is deeply discounted due to the nuisance problems listed above, and because the owner (me) wants to sell quickly and cleanly. This is basically a very sound car.
