Transport Canada issues latest recalls
September 26, 2007
Ottawa, Ontario - Transport Canada has issued its latest recalls, which may affect some Ford, Jeep, Nissan, Dodge and Volkswagen vehicles.
2005-2007 Ford Freestar
Vehicles affected: 252
On certain vehicles, the daytime running light (DRL) system is inoperable. Normal headlamp function is not affected. Dealers will reprogram the electronic module to activate the DRL function.
2007-2008 Jeep Commander
2007-2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee
Vehicles affected: 1,400
On certain vehicles, the front brake calipers were improperly manufactured and could break under certain operating conditions. Dealers will inspect and, if required, replace the front brake calipers.
1997-2001 Infiniti QX4
1997-2007 Nissan Pathfinder
Vehicles affected: 45,039
On certain vehicles, inadequate coating of the fuel filler tube assembly could allow water to penetrate past the coating, and cause surface rust. In areas which use heavy concentrations of road salt, corrosion may occur to a degree which results in perforation of the tube. Dealers will replace the fuel filler tube assembly.
2007 Dodge Ram
Vehicles affected: 150
On certain 2WD trucks equipped with a manual transmission, the driveshaft yoke may break. Dealers will inspect the driveshaft.
2007 Dodge Nitro
2006-2007 Jeep Commander
2006-2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee
2007 Jeep Wrangler
Vehicles affected: 29,500
On certain vehicles, software programmed into the antilock brake system (ABS) electronic control module may allow a momentary delay in braking when coasting up a hill during certain conditions. Dealers will reprogram the ABS module with updated software.
2006-2008 Volkswagen GTI
2006-2008 Volkswagen Jetta
2006-2008 Volkswagen R32
2006-2008 Volkswagen Rabbit
Vehicles affected: 50,000
On certain vehicles, a required cap designed to disable the headlamp horizontal aim may not have been installed during vehicle assembly. A cap may have been inadvertently installed to disable the vertical aiming screw. An adjustment mechanism allows aiming the low beam relative to the high beam. Dealers will affect repairs.
