Transport Canada issues latest recalls
January 2, 2008
Ottawa, Ontario - Transport Canada has issued its latest recalls, which may affect some Lexus, Honda, Acura, Dodge, Volvo and Suzuki vehicles, and some Elfe infant seats.
2006 Lexus GS300, GS 300 AWD
2006 Lexus IS250, IS250 AWD
2006 Lexus IS350
Vehicles affected: 1,734
On certain vehicles, an incorrect fabrication process may cause the fuel lines to crack, possibly resulting in a leak. Dealers will replace the fuel lines.
2008 Honda Ridgeline
Vehicles affected: 18
On certain vehicles, the hole in the sheet metal front bulkhead that serves as the base and pivot point for the hood support rod may not have been punched to specifications during manufacture. If the hole fails, the hood could fall. Note: All vehicles were inspected before retail sale and none were found to be out of specification.
2006-2007 Graco Snugride (Models 8643CDRCA3, 8F00GLNCA3, 8645SNY3CA, 8F01FORCA3, and 8F08PWCCA3)
Vehicles affected: 10,828
Certain infant restraint systems contain a combination of less dense backing material for the seat pad, and a seat pad design that may allow children to access the fibre fill in the seat pad. This could create a potential choking hazard. Owners will be provided with an updated seat pad.
2005-2008 Acura RL
Vehicles affected: 1,152
On certain vehicles, the power steering hose may deteriorate prematurely, causing it to crack and leak power steering fluid. Fluid leakage onto a hot catalytic converter will generate smoke and could possibly lead to an under-hood fire. Dealers will install an updated hose.
2007-2008 Honda Fit
Vehicles affected: 25,780
On certain vehicles, the wire harness for the Occupant Detection System (ODS) and the Occupant Position Detection System (OPDS) is routed under the carpet on the driver's side floorboard. In areas where road salt is used, salt from the snow on the driver's shoes may penetrate the carpet and leak into the wire harness, which may cause corrosion and breakage of the wire. This could cause the Safety Restraint System (SRS) light to illuminate. A failure of the ODS and OPDS may not detect the presence of a child seat or an out-of-position passenger, and the front passenger seat's frontal and side airbags will deploy, which could increase the risk of injury to a small or out-of-position occupant. Dealers will inspect the wire harness. If there is no corrosion, the harness will be re-insulated; if corrosion is evident, the harness will be replaced.
2001-2002 Dodge Dakota
2001-2002 Dodge Durango
2002 Dodge Ram
2001-2002 Dodge Ram Van
Vehicles affected: 41,800
On certain vehicles, the ignition park/shift interlock system may become inoperable. This can allow the shifter to be moved out of the Park position with the ignition key removed, or in the lock position, or it could allow the ignition key to be removed when the shifter is not in Park. This could allow the vehicle to roll away. Dealers will replace the gearshift blocker and bracket assembly.
2007-2008 Volvo XC90
Vehicles affected: 2,300
On certain vehicles, the Climate Control Module may receive a "shut down signal" from the Engine Control Module (ECM) after ignition key insertion. If this occurs, the climate control functions, including defroster, will not be available during that driving cycle. Dealers will install an ECM software update.
2006-2007 Suzuki Grand Vitara
Vehicles affected: 4,464

I was the only member on this board with a Yellow Focus Sedan, and a 2002+ Euro Facelift on a sedan.
