While taking a "few" moments to catch up on some auto news, I get a feeling, from looking at the Ford Verve sedan and hatch, that this vehicle will be the new Focus. Why? With all the stuff about fuel effiency and prices, and the probability that the 2008 Focus will have really poor sales, Ford will want to "shake things up"
If you look at the Verve, it has some of the Euro Focus styling, and some styling ideas from the 2008 NA Focus. Either that, or I'm on drugs

well if you look at it this way, Ford brought the Focus to North America to replace the Escort/Tracer and the Countour/Mysteque so now that Toyota, and Honda have smaller cars ( Fit/Jazz & Yaris ) they need something smaller to slot into the entry level / b Segment, Heck Vw might be bringing the Polo over here finally, and GM might give us the Corsa so the Fiesta/Verve is more or less needed by Ford for that smaller car segment.

Your right that the Verve, or whatever it's going to be.... is for the B class, or sub-compact, but, because Ford will have to reach those fuel effiency guidelines, cutting out a "larger" car would help. Get rid of the Focus( No thanks) "Ecoboost" the Fusion and the Verve, and there you go! Although, I want the european focus here, and hopefully, they'll Ecoboost it too. Why do you think all the euro fords have that big eggcrate of a lower grille. speaking of grills, Frost_2001, where did you get yours?

i think anything in a hatchback format that doesn't have a japanese branded badge on it is going to have trouble selling unless it has a crapload of power (ie 140hp corsa is going to have pathetic sales)

not true, if they gave it the option of a clean diesel format it would sell well as its a better option then filling it with regular gas. Like I said before, if we had more options for Engines other then what we currently do i think most people would opt out for the one that gets the best mileage from a tank of gas, that would not cost as much as what a Hybrid Option dose.
If ford gave us the option of a Diesel, I know myself and others who would buy it.

i don't get the big deal with that focus diesel.. 42mpg, 0-60 over 10s right?
the echo, fit and yaris all do that too. and they are cheap, and they are already available.. golf TDi has been around since forever too.
if ppl really valued fuel econ so much, all of those cars would be super amazing hot sellers.. but.. they aren't?
that said.. i think i'm biased. everyone i know/hang out with thinks anything with weight/power ratio greater than 11lb/hp is really slow

Hatches and Diesels don't sell well in the states............what we like in Canada is what Americans don't like, economical and practical are pretty much the devils words for Americans.
I drive a 2010 Golf that growls at people when it goes over 3000rpm.

it's the ST170 grille, I got it used off someone that was once on here, for $80
I know you can get it new from European-parts.net personally I am thinking of changing it to the stock Ghia version.
