whoa.. i guess your are 100% boost 100% of the time?! or is it insurance that is high
DP have you had the stang that long? (i figured your maintenance is so low because its a new car?) what were your #s like with the focus
just for kicks i compared my car and my MC.. it cost me $.34 /mile for the car and $.33/mile for the MC.. interesting.. not as much savings there as i thought. it turns out the fuel and insurance savings were offset by higher routine maintenance costs, and costs associated with winter storage

This is why I don't keep gas receipts, or parking receipts, and I don't think about my insurance rates. These things make me cry.

i don't like seeing the #s either... but i figure this is better than wondering where my $$$ went
i'm going to dig deeper to see if i could use a car sharing service like zipcar to replace my car and potentially save some $$

no seriously.. i wasn't being sarcastic.
btw.. doesn't sugar in the tank just call for the tank to be dropped and emptied out? is that a super expensive job in a SRT8 or did other stuff happen like clogged injectors etc

I've had the stang for 20 months -- so yes, it's brand new, and all regular maintenance, minus wheel alignments are covered for 4 years.
So other than parking and gas, my costs shouldn't really go up over the next 2.5 years.

actually, i am semi surprised. i used to think cars 'money pitted' for the following reason
1 ) the vehicle just inherently need lots of care and feeding (ie RX7)
2 ) the vehicle is just not reliable (ie '00 focus)
3 ) the user loves to mod and tossed piles of $$ at the thing (ie to make it more JDM y0)
4 ) the vehicle is used for motorsports
i guess just the act of having a car is in and of itself is money pit, and the factors 1 ) to 4 ) just make it a deeper pit

if my focus sucked enough fuel to fill up 3 times in one day i'd have an other car.
Little bit of show, little bit of go.

He does have another car -- a jeep :P.
to be fair, I've filled up 4-5 times in a day.. but then again, that's 20 hours of driving....

well not all cars are money pits. It all depends on what you use your car for!
Here is my story.
Purchase 03 ZTW 5700$
certification 2500$
Gas $2000
Insurance 6 months 120$= 720$
Repiars+oil changes 1500$
Total money spent including the purchase of the car=12420$
Trade the car for 6000$
$ got from work for using my car 11000$
Pure profit 4580$ this money has been spent on the Escape (wife's car):( for gas
The moral of the story is buy used vehicles if you are going to be using it for work and millage. Also have a dad that works in the dealership :)

Going through the bills for the now dearly departed Focus I was surprised, my modding bills weren't that bad at all, in fact less than $2500, before you count what the '08 mods were going to cost me (Those were gonna probably double that $2.5K number)
