Well I fabbed up a custom mount for my new GPS (birthday present) today. I used a piece of aluminum and mounted it to the far right screw on the guage bezel. It looks really good. What do you think?
I painted it black to match the unit and guage bezzel. I wasn't happy with the suction cup mount that it came with. It bounced around like a rubber ball. Now its mounted really secure and hardly moves at all.

Well done, I'm surprised though that your mount is so shaky. I've had my Garmin Quest for years and the mount that came with it holds it rock steady once everything is tightened up (Of course the suction cup does let go every so often if it's left on in the car in extreme heat/cold <_<)

It looks a lot cleaner than a suction cup to the windshield and the wires drapped over the dash.
Is it actually screwed into the dash or is it a friction fit grip around the lip?
(You took those pictures doing 114km on the 404?  )

Looks like you used what ever you had kicking around the nuts looks totally different from each other. BUt it doesn't look like u screwed into anything i think he just has it wedged in there.

I mounted it using the far right screw holding the Guage surround for the speedo/tach cluster. As for what I used to make the bracket, I used some aluminum left over from the eaves trough that was recently installed at the cottage. And the nuts were all that I could find in the many margarine tubs Dad has filled up with misc. fasteners in the garage. LOL, but it works. I will be cleaning up the upper bracket soon.

Yeah I tried sticking mine to the windshield but it was to far away and the mount was a little shakey. Now it is within reach and firmly mounted. The only problem now is the cord hangs in front of the volume control.

that looks kewl. I kind of want to do something like that for my Ipod nano and cell phone. but make it so the front of the ash tray is the holder. or have it come right beside the passanger side cup holder.

I thought about doing the ashtray thing for my iPod because the wife is always complaining that she doesn't have a cup holder any more. But I just tune her out and turn up the radio.

That looks pretty nice!
I'll have to find out how to hook one up in my car once I finally get one, since the dash is a bit different.. boo..
As for your ipods, stick them in the bloody armrest (if you have one!)
thats a write up I did for the adapter I have, but it shows the nano sittng nicely in the armrest, all out of the way and hidden. Not a single wire in plain sight!

Looks great kev, I gota TOMTOM and it came with a dash mount so the cup sits on that no probs with mine except for tighting the screws that hold the clip on the unit. Just wish i was brave enough to cut into the power cord and power it directly in stead of having a cord on the dash when charging. Wait till they come down in price a little bit more.

I know, thats my biggest pet peeve. I have my phone charger, GPS cord and my Monster iPod FM modulator all plugged into a 3 outlet adapter between the seats. I have to figure something out to redcue the clutter.

We'll think it out next meet maybe even hide it under the center console and you might even have to spice and dice a lil but we'll think it out.

Looks nice. I recommend to hide the wires, just like everyone else on here recommends the same.
