Gas Gauge
#1
Not sure if this is a problem, but, I've gone 588 kms on one tank of gas, and the low fuel light isn't working.

Has it stalled yet? LOL. I have recently changed my style of driving and noticed a large increase in Fuel Economy. But 588KM, thats pushing it. I would fill up and see how much it takes. I can remember how big the tank is (maybe 50L) but that would be a good judge on how much fuel you have used.

Are these a PITA to start if they run out of gas? If not, might be worth carrying a gallon with you, and actually see if your light works.

Light came on at 590 km. A trip back from Ottawa, at an average of 100 km/h, and travelling from Bowmanville to Toronto for work, at 105 km/h. This was the highest i've had in any car I've owned, except for one tank of gas in my 95 Escort, after doing a tune up and going 80 km/h for the whole tank. My 2000 Focus has a 45 litre tank, I think.

Man, I wish I had that kind of will power... I'd be well over 650 kms a tank. I can't keep it below 110 on the 416/417, usually around 120. I got 569 kms last tank! B)

Oh, and it's a 50 liter tank. I put in 47 liters on my last fill up.

Man, sitting in traffic really sucks, the gas. I wish I had a clear shot to and from work. But I don't think I can keep it under 100. I like going with the flow, in the fast lane.

Strange I have a 53L tank on mine. I guess it just needs more to chug.

thats not bad, the best I had was on my old Auto Focus and it was 100% hwy driving and I got 730 kms before the needle dipped below the empty line, and that was in Montanna.. so yeah I could not fill up sonner then where I ended up at. it was a mix of using cruise contorl and not, doing 75 mph.

What he said.

The most I have ever squeezed into the gas tank at the pumps was 41 litres.

Either the gas line from the tank to the engine is as thick as an oil pipeline and can hold 13 litres of gas or you guys are driving for days after the low fuel light goes on... :iono:

12 US gallons = 45.43 litres for a 2000 focus. Do other years have a larger tank?

No wonder I can never get the mileage you guys talk about all the time. I think the highest I have ever recorded on a tank was 440km.

depends on what gas blends you use / stations, I find no matter where I am in the US, I find my car gets better MPG's when I'm filling up down there then here in Canada. I think they have better quality controls down there then here. Often I'm getting 50 - 80 more Km's out of a tank on US gas then the Canadian version of the same gas, and it increases with every US filling, has anyone else noticed that?
