Decided My Mods.
Well, "Phase 1" is complete.
180hp, 170tq on a Mustang Dyno.
I didn't quite make my 200whp mark yet, the stock throttle body/manifold/cat/flex pipe are definitely bottlenecks. HP is peaking at 5900, so it needs to breath better to get full potential/boost up top.
That being said, for $2500 (all power mods inclusive) the improvement is PHENOMENOL.
The Procharger REALLY pulls like a beast, I'm quite happy with the result.
The aforementioned bottlenecks will be taken care of in "Phase 2" through the winter/spring.

Congratulations Anton and thanks very much for keeping us all in the loop as you went through this process.

Speaking of that, now that you've finished phase one (or is there more tuning?) what would you have done differently process-wise.

Thanks Ken, you were pivotal to get this started so a big Thank You to you!
Well, first thing, I wouldn't plan to do this again with another huge project (backyard renovation) at the same time.
I got distracted, and ultimately delayed.
That being said, here's the hindsight view:
1: I should've test fit the kit right when I got it. If I did this, I would've known early on what I would want to replace or what else I would need. This leads to the next item:
2: After the test fitting, I could've then planned out exactly how I want it all laid out. Which leads to the next item:
3: Start procuring things I knew I would absolutely need much earlier on. For example, an xcal, intercooler piping, silicone couplers, t-bolt clamps etc.
4: Choose a better finalization path. With the Procharger, I had the option of finishing the kit two ways. First way was the way I chose, where I had it physically installed, charge piping disconnected. Stock injectors and stock airbox were left in place until I went for tuning. Then, on the night before it was scheduled for tuning, I went to the shop and put all the last pieces in place there. This worked, but it was very stressful. I had to make sure I didn't miss or forget anything at the very last minute. What I should've done was get a temp tune from Steeda, and finish off everything at home!! This would've alleviated a lot of last minute stress.
I have to say, overall, the Procharger is the EASIEST forced induction kit to install on a focus. Bar none. Hand tools will do the whole kit!

And finally, yes, there will definitely be a phase 2 with more tuning and hopefully much better dyno numbers!

Congrats on the #'s you peak at the same rpm as I do and i have a huge slow spooling turbo i thought your peak would be around midrange so you can tell you do have some restrictions a throttle body is a big one that's for sure. Good luck on phase 2 if you need or are lookign for anything let me know.

Your TB isnt a bottleneck :rolleyes: - I put down over 220whp, and 220 wtrq with the stock one.

Your bottle necks are your stock exhaust system(Cat, flex). Open that biotch up and you will get that extra 20 horses. Dont waste money on an aftermarket tb for 1-2 whp.

Go 2.5 all the way through and you will get the power you want.

EDIT: One of the TT G35 guys around town here threw his stock cats back on for emissions, he lost about 35 whp on his horse power calculator :o

get that cat & flex out of the way, open her up and 200 should be easy to attain.

he has a magnaflow already i say throttle body for sure it helps more that just 1-2 whp is helps the whole car brethe easier

Dood, hes running a stock cat and flex. TB is the last of his worries.

Prove me wrong, TB will do s*** for this. My car 'breathed' fine with the stock one. :rolleyes:

Flofocus, are you still running the stock tb on yours??

I was hoping the tb might help with a more "responsive" feel?

ohh didn't notice stock cat yaa thats defenitly putting a hurt on the car depending on when you have to pass emmisions id say full long tube headers with a upgraded flex pipe car will really wake up, and of course a throttle body will also help lol. Im sticking to my guns

Those are some pretty massive loses the guy got by going back to stock cats!!
Ok, well, seeing as how you're above the level I wanted to be at, and you still have stock tb, I'm thinking I should definitely lean towards fixing up the exhaust side of things first.
TB is still on the list, however the '03 65mm tb's are far and few inbetween on the used front...

Phase 2 list:
Shorty header (its still a daily commuter car so noise is a bit of a concern).
High flow cat.
High flow flex.
65mm tb.

If anyone is selling some used pieces let me know!!

He's also got massive horsepower. Its a twin turbo VQ engine, hes conservatively tuned at 450whp, thats why its a 'massive loss' when putting the stock cats back on.

paulicat - start with your exhaust system. Up to you to spend the money on the TB but I think you will be pretty disappointed with the gains you will get.

I got my flex pipe from trubendz.com

Go with a Stainless steel 2.5 system. Mine fit perfectly, and stayed in great shape.

I would look into getting a custom downpipe made with a high flow cat built into it. Most exahust shops that do custom work can do this for you for under $200 + price of hf cat. (my vibrant one cost about $65 IIRC)

I appreciate all the opinions that everyone's given in this thread.
I'll be tackling exhaust first. Once that's done, I'll get dyno'd (slight retuning if necessary) and take it from there.
Tb will be last on the list (if necessary only).
I'd like to see if I can keep it emissions legal but if that's not a reality, we'll see happens then.

I have a 2.25 magnaflow catback, I don't need to get rid of that do I?

Your tb is for the 00-02.5 isn't it?
The 03 has a different tb altogether...

Just make sure that CAT is as close to the header as possible, just like where the stock one is. You shouldnt have a problem passing emissions.

How about the 2.5 to my 2.25 magnaflow, is that a problem??
So 2.5 for cat/flex/downpipe only??
I don't really want to change the magnaflow if I don't have too, I really like the tone I'm getting right now.
