That's what I thought to, because that was the only rating on Tirerack for those.. Any input John?

Looking at General Tires website they only come in Q rating. I don't think i priced them out for you because of the low speed rating. I ussually put them on vans and suv's were I know that they won't exceed the speed limit.
Weight I see now that I did price them out for you too. But still I don't recomend putting those on. Even though I swear by General tires. Only purely because of the speed rating fact.

Here's the speed ratings if anyone's interested.
N - 87 mph (140.01 km/h)
P - 94 mph (151.28 km/h)
Q - 100 mph ( 160.93 km/h)
R - 106 mph ( 170.59 km/h)
S - 112 mph ( 180.25 km/h)
T - 118 mph ( 189.90 km/h)
U - 124 mph ( 199.56 km/h)
H - 130 mph ( 209.21 km/h)
V - 149 mph ( 239.79 km/h)
Z - 168 mph ( 270.37 km/h)
Anything higher than Q rating for a winter tire isn't really necessary IMO.

I couldn't agree with that more. And if you are getting to the point where you've worried about exceeding the speed rating on your snow tires on the road, let me know where you drive, I'm avoiding that area. :)

Not sure about getting 17's steelies.
I am sure that 16inch steelies will fit over the SVT brakes. Do you already have 17" snow tires? If not you can get 16 rims and tires.

No. I have 17x7 summer rims (which I wanna sell) an my old stock 15s which won't fit because of the svt brakes obviously, but the 15s will go on my moms focus. I thought they made steelies for all sizes. I guess I'll have to buy a cheep set of rims

If you want 16's, I could sell you my OEM ST wheels.
I just put on my 15" steelies for the winter and removed the rubber from my 16's as they were bald.

Well the deal for General Altimax 215/45/17 at 600 bucks deal fell through. I had a feeling it was too good to be true. I can't really afford them at the price most people want so I'll be going for Hankook IPike W409's.. Does OK Tire sell these John? I'm getting a few quotes around. Looking for 215/45/17 as mentioned above.

They can't get them anymore. They use to deal with Manufactures warehouse on Kenedy Rd but since they stopped ordering big orders they were cut off from them.
Tires23 would be your best bet.

Why don't you find a set of 16"s and mount you winter rubber to them? That way you won't have to worry about mounting and dismounting every season.
Thats what I do, but I have the advantage of running 14's in the winter months. The joys of owning a 1st gen. LOL

Did you eat the cost of sensors & bands for your other wheels?
I didn't have a choice unless I wanted to keep hitting the reset button on the dash to have my display not read "TIRE PRESSURE SYSTEM FAULT" all winter <_<

hahaha yeah I didn't eat the cost, screw that. Ford really pissed me off with those. On the Honda systems the band is attached my a screw with you can loosen and swap to other rims. Ford opted for a one time use band. And the bands are really expensive as the sensors are also.
So for summer I have to reset each time I start the car and have that light on, but it doesn't really bug me. My winter rims will have the bands in them since those wheels came stock on the car.

BTW guys, I found a shop called Speedstar in Markham that have AWESOME prices on all kinds of winter tires. They will even give you free valve stems, tire bags and an instant 3% off if you pay debit/cash. They beat tires23 price by about 25 bucks balanced, mounted, fees, and with all the free stuff and that's without the extra 3% you can get. It's only 20 bucks in my case, but that makes it 45 bucks cheaper than tires23.

Funny thing is that for the '10 MY Ford went to the TPMS in the valve stem (thus eliminating the need for the bands, though I'm unsure if the other system can be transferred wheel to wheel)
Actually that begs the question, now that Ford changed to the other (presumably cheaper) type, what does that mean for those of us who have the other system if we need parts?

Well I know for one thing all Ford band systems are one use only.. As for the TMPS being in the valve stem, haven't heard of that yet.. Must be new like you indicated.
