synthetic is your best option, k&n filters are good with synthetic aswell. i personally run royal purple 5W20 with a K&N oil filter. costs me 35$ with filter, 5 quarts of oil at my "discount" price

well technically you can do it in longer intervals, however i change mine every 5,000kms being boosted. you should realisitcally stay at the same interval as before.

Are you willing to sell RP 5w20 to us members at the discounted rate too ?

i would if i could LOL

and actually i made a mistake there, its 54$ including synthetic oil filter and 5L. i can get 4L for under 35$. cheaper then my discounted price at economy lube, i use to pay 55$ full synthetic there, crap oil filter and quaker state bs. i get everything through performance improvements in guelph and have a brother hook up. i can do a group buy for it tho? price will go up tho when HST kicks in because im PST exempt.

I have used Castrol Syntec since I got my car and I haven't had anytrouble with it. I used to work there so I got a great price on it. But I work there no more. It is usually on sale at Wal-Mart though. Gonna keep using it. It does the job. I regularly go over the interval too. Sometimes double. Smile

Just looking at an oil won't tell you if it is still up to par Mike. I never recomend going that far over a manufactures oil change interval while working @ Castrol. Sure some new car's oil doesn't need to be changed for 40,000K but they were meant for service intervals like that, namely VW and Audi. But they have their own special oil made for them by Castrol that isn't available to the general population in any store. You need to buy it from a dealership. Also the factory filters are strongly encouraged aswell.

If you read the fine print on the bottles of any extended drain oil it tells you that you should ALWAYS follow the recomended factory oil change service recomendations while under warranty. Otherwise you MAY have warranty issues should something major happen. Thats my .02

I like my RP, I always do 5000-6000km intervals, k&n oil filter. If RP isn't available I use Amsoil, as its easier and cheaper to get for me.

if you'rein K-W area, go to meineke on lexington and weber. It's $23 bucks for oil change. can't beat that. if you're using synthetic. it's save to do it once every 7500k or more. honda recommend 12000 for engine w/ stock synthetic oil (seen it on ITR front clip)

Filter would be around 22 + tax and is good for 40,000KM so you could save money by not needing to change the filter everytime.

Let me know??
Found out recently that if you purchase a VW with a 1.8T, an engine known for sludge built up, and only use Amsoil 0W30 Synthetic in it from the day you pick it up and also have them put it in. Then present it to the Manufactor somehow they will extened your Warranty to 8 years I believe.
Crazy s**t but its in the fine print in some of the dealer papers I have lol

Found this too.

i would never let my oil go for 40,000 kms, no matter what the oil manufacturer told me. 10,000kms is the most i would ever go.

I'm gonna chime in here. Whenever I do my oil changes I do it with Motul 5W30 (pretty expensive stuff, $65 for 5L jug). For some reason I started noticing that my oil would get dark by like 2000km (don't matter if I tracked my car or not that month). So to be on the sure side contacted BlackStone labs and they sent me out their test container for my spent oil. So oil change time came around at 5000km (at 1000km mark I went winter lapping, car saw a lot of high RMPs:-)). Sent it out to them and got my report over email probably a week if not less later.
Now I can't find this damn report cause I probably accidently deleted it but they stated that my Subi engine is in top shape and that I can no problem go to up to 6000km mark.

Now all I'm saying if you're gonna run synthetic oil and most likely you don't track you beast then you can go up to 6000km no problem.

In a non warranty situation only. Fine Print on the bottle says to follow manufactures recomendations unless you are over the warranty period.
