So i dont know if this has already been done on the site, but figured id post it since it helped me alot.
Basically, i have HIDs and because of the DRLs, one of them would always turn off when i start my car, so i searched the net and found a site that worked wonders!
All you need is 12ga wire ( 6 inchs ), male connectors ( 3 ), wire stripers or scissors, electric tape, and a set of plyers.
It took me about 5 minutes to make the jumper, then about another 5 minutes to take the relays out and install the jumper, works great !!!

Enjoy!

I wrote this how-to with Kevin like 10 years ago, and im glad to see its working out. We first noticed the problem when we installed the HID that they weren't properly igniting. This was due to the DRL circuitry in canadian cars not supplying a proper 12V to the headlamps upon ignition. This mod was simple, easy and effective. It would be cool to get some feedback from the owners of more recent model foci to see if we can make a mod like this for them.

well it is very simple when you have multimeter.
R12 is DRL RELAY, R13 is fog.
on R12(the pin in howto is coil side), you are using ignition 12v, when you turn key on, that pin gets 12v.
then on R13, 2 pins are for switch side.
so simply putting in word, ignition power from R12 to power up R13.
little bit of research is telling me that, 05+ cannot be done same way as 00-04.
the reason is 05+, R5 relay share high beam and fog lights.
my recommendation is this.
cut 12v side 2inches away from fog lights bulb/connector, tape off car side wires.
remove DRL relay R12, find ignition 12v pin, get 4/5 pin relay, bring that ignition 12v to pin 85, 86 to ground, pin 87 to battery put 15amp inline fuse, 30 to each fog lights(bulb side).

Just wanted to mention, the DRF mod posted above, also allows highbeams to go on with the fogs, where as with the non-mod, the fog lights shut off whith the high beam.
I'm also wondering since kona you know lots about the relay functions, would u happen to know what needs to be changed to move the DRL from the low beam to the high beam? i also do not care if the voltage is < 12v on the highbeam drl, as they are halogen bulbs anyway.
