Should I Commit To Another Focus?
#21
thanks for the advice and opinions guys!!

I guess my thing is, I'm done with mods and all that other junk, I just need a nice ride for the next few years that I can fit all our crap into and get a baby seat and toys and s**t into...

I'm not looking to do mods again,,,nothing...well maybe rims/tires...but, that is seriously it!!

I've gone looking at everything from Mazda-to-Subbie-to-Ford-to Chevy and all the payments are crazy high and are more than a Focus' and I am not a 'used-car' person, sorry if that sounds dumb but, I will never buy a used car!! Just the way I am!

I dunno where everyone gets their deals from but, all the mentioned cars are way more than the Focus'.....The Mazda 3 is a beautiful car...but a ripoff in my opinion......the Subbie...they wanted 549...a month...for a RS....and the cobalt is nice but, it's still slow and plastic....

 You wouldnt know we were focus owners with these kind of replies.
Micro...your above post is awsome. Your completely right, were so quick to diss the focus, but when you actually sit down and look at the numbers, there isnt much that will touch it, bang for buck wise that is.

For the price range, I say go ahead, get another focus. You obviously enjoyed the 'focus experience' enuff that your thinking about buying another one.

Dont let these miserable fools getcha down. They have an agenda against Ford even tho they've never actually sat down and compared the bang thier buck is buying ;)

I still stand by my sig tho :P

Stay away from Hyundai. They're getting too big too fast in my books.

Nissan is always a safe bet for quality, but you get what you pay for. In other words, bend over and open the orifice (wallet, ass) of your choice.

Toyota is also nice, but they're suffering from Honda disease these days. Honda disease = charging up to $5,000 more than similarily-equipped domestics without really offering that much more in exchange for the extra cash. It's like buying Roots clothes or anything else for that matter - it's a name, how much do you want to pay to be trendy? I personally feel Nissan offers more value for their escalated price tag.

Yeah nothing like paying almost 3000.00 less for a car with the same features.

Elantra GL = 14,995.00
Focus ZX4 = 17,745.00

The Elantra is crap. I've driven 5 in the last 2 years alone, and NONE drive as nice, or move as well as the Focus. Plus, the standard power windows is frankly annoying. Some of us don't want stupid little rat wheels running our windows for us, or burning out in the dead of winter.

The engine is buzzy... it makes a friggin Crapalier sound like it came out of Lambo's factory. The transmissions are normally nice, but the suspension has more wallow than a herd of Hippopotami making their rounds of the Nurburgring. Absolute trash.

The interior screams "Grandma's car" more than any Focus ever will (even the 05), and the seats are laughable. Need I go on?

They're dirt cheap because they're made cheap. They're like crack for the automotively-challenged. They're available RIGHT NOW because you need wheels and don't have the time to spend making an informed decision. Just my 2 cents.

Funny I've driven a 2002 Hyundai Elantra every now and then since my dad bought his in 2001, frankly the car had more power than my ZX3, my dad's Elantra has power everything while my ZX3 had power nothing, and the power windows on the Elantra don't make as much noise as you're complaining about.

The engine is not buzzy it's got torque where it counts and it winds up quite well for a 2L motor and it's geared quite well I might add, and altough it's comparing 2 slow cars the Elantra allways managed to outpace my ZX3 in a straight line no matter who was driving at the time, as for handling yes that's the only department where my ZX3 managed to outdo my dad's Elantra but I've driven a friends 2005 Elantra GT recently and it handled just as well as my ZX3.

They're dirt cheap because that's what cars like that should cost and if it's made cheap it should have more problems than the Focus wich it doesn't, the Elantra has given my dad 80,000 hassle free km's I wish I could say the same for my POS ZX3 Focus.

Once again i must interject and tell KOS to go to car hell. You like the mini, and you like the Hyundai, as a better car than the Focus? You live in a strange world my freind. I say sell the Focus and buy a Hyundai and enjoy yourself.

I will never own a Hyundai.

What a joke.

I was already in car hell I got in when I bought a Ford, I went to get my ZX3 repaired so often I was on a 1st name basis with the service manager.

Actually I sold the Focus 2 years ago and I've been driving my Hyundai Accent GSi ever since so far the only time I've gone to see Hyundai was to get my brakes done a year ago, yes it is a smaller car but in the end it's given me less grief than my ZX3.

On the coolness factor any of my Mini's blows away any Focus.

The joke is the fact that Ford is slowly loosing market share to Hyundai and the rest of the imports and people like you keep buying there crap just because it's built in NA.

I actually beat the s**t out of a GSi for a weekend at the dealer's expense here in NB. I did everything with it I would with the Focus. By the end of the weekend, it actually had creaks and rattles, and felt noticeably less "tight".

You can make all the cracks you want about the Focus, but at the end of the day, an Accent is an Escort fighter. It's clearly outdistanced across the board by the Focus because it's not meant to fight the Focus. I mean, I can go get a bottom-end Accent GS for like 12K. There's almost NOTHING in the car, literally. You have no problems with it because it's 1.6L of DOHC hamster fury. I'd put the SPI up against it any day of the week. My puny 14" tires will out-corner it, I'll out-brake it, and I'll out-pimp it, too.

Sorry... the Mini is a very cool car, and I'd own one right now if I could actually fit in it. But the Accent has NOTHING on the Focus besides an unfair price advantage.

ok I'm sitting again.

If you re-read my post you'll notice that I was comparing my dad's Elantra to the Focus not my GSi, the Accent is definetely in a different class from the Focus and I would never compare the two.

Here is a comparison between a Focus Spi and a Accent GSi and aside from one being a Focus and the other a Accent look at it objectively and tell me that your Focus is has technically better than the Accent has you're boasting, I also threw in an Elantra into the comparison just to make it interesting.

Focus SPI and Accent GSi comparison

I'll be honest and say that my Accent is a 2002 not a 2004 but technically it's identical and yes it does have a few rattles but nothing that can't be fixed with a bit of elbow grease.

I drove an elantra in Vancouver.. and once you started driving it, it never dropped below 4000 RPM.... 'cause that's what it took to get the sad little car up the hills with 2 fatasses and a couple of bikes.

the smell of burning was only sweetened by the fact it was Enterprise's best $9/day rental.

No...just pay off this car (if it's not paid off) and save up for the next car...
I've learnt my lesson in the past...I'm driving this Mazda 3 into the ground or until it costs more to fix on a monthly basis than to drive a new car...in the next couple of months this car will be paid off and I've only hade this car for about 7 months...
I have to save up for a house now...buying something that appreciates in value instead of depreciating...

If I ever think of getting another focus...I'll say right on the spot..and with the prices of the SVT's used but almost new ....30000 kms with JRSC for US 11000k ...!!!!!!!!!!!!!...Ill think on selling mine and geting that one.

Buy another focus...yes;
but my next car needs to be at least a sedan...and then if I find lower monthly payments on a lease..I'll go for it also.
p/s. salt, winter and street conditions, makes me think of gettin a leased car instead of buying one.

go ahead..get another one..I can tell you like them...if you are thinking Focus again..thats cause you like them.
00 DAKOTA R/T.......I just didnt like the torque of the Focus thats all...!!!

Please, no more talk about the old Mini. THE most unreliable car any of my friends or relatives or enemies have ever owned.

Mini is cute, and so is a dog chasing it's tail.
Old enough to know me limit, yet young enough to exceed it.
