not sure of my problem again but is it possible it is due to my previous P0401 - Insufficient EGR cel code ? (it hasnt been changed yet but a part is on the way and i am going to try and change it myself with the instructions i found on another site.)
anyways, new symptoms on my jalopy are - poor gas mileage and when driving down a fairly smooth street at a steady speed (60km) i can feel my car backing off once in a while like it wants to stall or it isnt getting enough juice ??

It's all related to the DPFE (aka Insuficient EGR code).

Yeah, classic DPFE-like symptoms...... they shouldn't have to order one, MANY engines/models of Fords use the same one, it's a very generic part.
After changing the DPFE, you may need to disconnect your battery for 30sec-1 minute to reset the computer - you'll lose your radio presets and clock (if you have a stereo with a security code, make sure you have it handy too)
Does anyone else have another method? Does the light eventually go away if you just keep driving?? I only went a few K's and it stayed on.

i dont have to worry about the stereo, its the stocker with the detachable face....woo...lol.
anyways, funny thing happened the other day. i was drving and noticed my cel wasnt on. it stayed off for a while but then that night, boom. back on. and i still have my dealer telling me the dpfe is $100 bucks for the part alone....??

thats what i thought but my warranty just ran out like 5000km ago and the dealer says im sol and have to dish out the dough....

Well the stock warranty is what 30,000km(more?) and this extended warranty is 40,000 on top of that (70,000min) so print that OFOC link and wave it their face (before you roll over the max).

i alwasy thought the stock warranty was 60,000 ? but again, im new to foci so i wouldnt really know.

I don't kow either, it is probably actually 50,000 the point is you have coverage. Show the dealer the extended warranty, say this it is how it is going to be and if they give you grief ask for a phone so you can call Ford HQ in Oakville.

The 4U7Z-9J460-AA I bought in September was $43.30 (List - so no, I didn't get a deal or anything) at Whiteoak in Mississauga. Was under $50 with tax.
I don't know what dealer you're at, but they must be doing okay :)
Even if it's warranty, or extended warranty, I would just buy it and try it. Isn't your time and hassles of leaving it at the dealer worth more than $50? (time off work/school? no car to get around? misdiagnosis?)
