Matting Under Hood?

hey guys, i'm just curious, is that black matting under the hood worth keeping on? I've heard it has a ton of weight to it, and i know for a fact that it keeps in alot of heat that i wish i didn't have, seeing as i have a high flow intake (bomz) would it help taking it out? to dispurse alot of the heat kept in my engine bay

I took mine off when I installed my supercharger due to clearance issues. It doesn't weigh very much and cuts down on noise a bit. I would have preffered to keep it on but oh well.

I have it on my 2000. I have heard that some people with shorty style of headers have had paint peel on their hood because they didn't have the matting.

It is listed for all years, but didn't come much past early 02 from what i know.. It costs 157.95 new from Ford!!!
