Let's Talk Clutches!
#1
Who here has an aftermarket clutch?

I know Jay ran a centerforce clutch. They seem to be priced really well, but I've heard both BAD & GOOD stories about them. It seems the bad ones didnt do the proper brake in procedure for it.

Any others out there that wont brake my bank. I'm looking to spend under $600.00, thats why I'm leaning towards the centerforce with a proper brake in.

Also...the car currently is running stock clutch with 100500 Km's :o The clutch is holding up pretty good considering the abuse and high mileage it does have. Now, Im wondering if I 'take it easy' for the rest of the year, go hard at the track, maybe I can keep it together until the car is ready to go back to hibernating, then do the flywheel and Quaife at the same time while I dont need the car.

Quaife or the T2? I need traction!!!

agreed, if it hibernating that would be a sweet project for the winter. I was wondering the same thing about clutch too. A while back Mitch was showing off a new clutch that i *THINK* was new on the market, or the focus model was exclusive to him at the time. Not sure.

From what i have seen the centerforce is pretty popular, and i personally havent heard anything bad about them.

If traction is the issue also, what tires are you running?

Khumos 712's

Honestly, I need slicks for anything to grip in 2nd gear.

Anything over 1/2 thorttle in 2nd causes the tires to break lose at any given RPM. Cool night, with 94 octance, 10psi, it will do the same in 3rd at WOT.

holy holy, off 3rd gear too?

try a new set of stickies...maybe that will help with your traction.

Yes, but not much in 3rd, its still cool to hear though :D

And agian, thats only if its very cool outside/94octane/10psi.

Hasnt done that over a month though. This heat wave is killing my car

Sort of off topic:

Focus Central has a thermostat that lowers the tempature for the water, and says that you receive some hp gains form it...would that help when it's a big sweaty ball sack out side? Seeing ad your FI...

its a smooth clutch on the street, but mine blew up at the track

by the way, I switched back to the stock clutch, and it has gone through several launches with 148,000kms on it

What would the differences be between a centerforce clutch, and a Spec stage 1 clutch?

I'm sure I still have at LEAST 25K out of the stock clutch.

The only reason my stock clutch went, was me trying to do a second gear burn out.. :S

After that when in 4th at like 5-6000rpm when I would go WOT it would slip. this was with the 14b setup. Had the centerforce in there with the T3.

the Clutchnet Clutches i sell have been holding just under 400fwhp on Jeffro's focus down in Fla.

clutchnet is the only company to add an extra finger to the pressure plate diaphram(replacing all fingers at the same time) and change the fulcrum points while all others just heat-treat the stock fingers for extra strength.
clutchnet also offers more disc options than anyone else allowing you to tailor your clutch to how you drive or what sort of abuse you plan on putting it through!
everything from basic street discs with sprung hubs to solid bug 3 puck drag clutches.

I am running the EZlock Pro 6button sprung hub disc and 1450psi pressure plate with the 11jbs flywheel and love it for my PW kit.
the flywheel is being used by Econorocket down in TX and he love it! he tried the fidanza and the stocker and will never give up his Clutchnet flywheel now! ;)

i should be able to put a clutch package together for you for under $600cnd without the flywheel.

let me know if you are interested.

sounds like a sweet deal... what are the prices on the svt clutches...

also tell them to make a throwout bearing that works, so the next time my clutch goes i can replace it with a working one.

Bully Clutch

They're located in Ottawa and make pretty decent clutches and pressure plates. I know for sure that many non-turbo Subaru and Honda owners own their kit and enjoyed it on the track for many years.
got gas?

yeah, that link..

alot of other turbo and powerful hondas and subarus are using them too ;)

my brother has one in his b16b civic.. my other friend has one in his 2.0l turbo mk2 golf.. no one that i know has had problems wth them.. and they hold up to good power and torque..

for exact power ratings im not sure, you would need to ask them but its holding on mine!

its just nice to know that they're right there.. i called them up for info and i was happy with the service.. got my clutch shipped to another garage in an afternoon (of course its not really far either).. anyway if somethings wrong.. i can walk in there and not have to worry about sending my clutch overseas hehe
ZX3T gone..
